Had a soft spot for Huddersfield ever since my mate moved there to go to uni, and we went to a game at their (then) new stadium. Pretty decent stadium actually. Not massive, but quite impressive.

Hope they stay up.

I love the fact the guy can remember Gilzean scoring 2 in 1972 I was probably at that game but can't remember what I had for breakfast 30 mins ago

So sad to read on redcafe about Kane. It's mostly about how he will leave due to wages and that he surely will leave Spurs in a year or two.

Hate this modern football mentality that money is all that mather. Hope Harry stays with us for his whole career to show that not every team have to pay players 250k a week for them to stay

He just needs to ride things out until we get the new stadium. And given his contract length, we can easily hold on to him until we have the means to reward him in the way he deserves. Our wages will increase if the TV money remains, and success will bring more support and more money.

Spurs beat Huddersfield 4-0.

One team's forum is full of rancour, bitching and in-fighting in the match day ratings thread. The other team's forum is full of civility and good humour in the match day thread. I was particularly tickled by this exchange.

Guest Spur:

"Absolute class from your fans applauding Kane off. Hats off to you.

Commiserations on the loss but I think you can have plenty of optimism for the season going forward.

Hope you stay up."

Phlegmatic Terrier:

"Thanks and we hope you stay up too."

Nah. At least one season in the new stadium, and probably longer.

Don't really get this line of thinking, TBH.

Been saying since he broke through, I don't see him being desperate to leave before he is 26/27. Now, I think there is a good chance he might carry out his threat of staying his whole career and finishing his career having broken all kinds of records.

The idea that he might leave rests on two misapprehensions:

Firstly, opposition fans, stupid pundits, etc., just don't seem aware, or capable of fathoming, just how much our new stadium is going to radicalise our situation. So they keep on labouring the point about wages. We have a wage structure. We pay a set percentage of revenues in wages - the percentage advised by UEFA, as it happens. If our revenues go up by 50% (might do, might do go up more, or even much more - I don't know anything about any projections or forecasts), the same percentage will give 50% more money to pay in wages. If Kane is on £120,000 - that's what ITK says, ignore the media they make things up - that would give him a wage pushing £180,000, and that is being quite conservative.

Under the circumstances - he loves the club and wants to be here his whole career, that brings us on to the second misapprehension - he might be happy enough getting wages that are closer to parity with our rivals, but he will want to win things and we won't win things. Oh, really? And what is that based on? The notion that even if we approach parity in wages we just will not win things because it's Spurs. It's the ultimate non-sequitur. We already have the team, all we have to do is keep them together. Indeed, such is the way Poch makes a system that we are producing players who can play in that system all the time. The system is key, more so than the personnel. We also have the youth set-up that is producing and so offers a supply of replacements. We have a great young manager, who is prepared to give youth a chance, also making us attractive to young talented players. And of course we have the training facilities and will have the stadium. We don't need to buy the team - like Chelsea and City did, and still do. All we have to do in the medium to long term is get closer to paying the players we are producing something close to parity to keep them and there is no reason we can't be on a level with them. Hell, we pretty much are now - as shown by the league table last season. If we have a team at that level, why would we not win trophies? We might not, but no-one should just assume we would. And the one thing you can't really replace with a system approach and youth orientation is regular goals from a striker you buy or produce. And that ain't easy. We have one. Keeping him gives us a great chance of winning things just so long as the rest of the set-up is right - and it is ATM. The only reason anyone would assume we won't win things is by an appeal to a recent past based on the club nearly being destroyed and then taking time to recover.

I don't want to make the type of claims that will produce a stream of Optimistic ratings, but so long as the stadium doesn't go tats-oop and so long as Poch stays to see his project through, I believe we will win trophies, and not just a minor one or two.

And what has Harry Kane had to say about all of this? He wants to see his career out here. He wants to break all the records with Spurs. And, more tellingly because more realistic, so long as the club is progressing he will want to be here. Is moving into the best and second biggest club stadium in the country considered progress? Will the steady improvements in revenues that is likely to accrue over time likely to deliver continuing improvement? [Edit] And Lloris, another who has committed himself to the project, said that Kane is such a motivational figure at the club because he is not motivated by money.

Sorry, kinda going off topic - though it is answering rival fans' obsession with Kane leaving due to wages and us not winning things. But more importantly, I think our fans really need to start believing that this is what's happening. We need to create an atmosphere of belief that carries through to the stadium and the team, who do pick up on the crowd's mood.

Been sitting on a piece of info for a couple of months but maybe it will appease a few. Won't be taking questions on any of it, this is everything I know....

Close friend of mine has a business associate that played a round of golf with Kane just before the season started. Here's what he passed on ...

Kane is the most down to earth and polite footballer he's ever met.
Has basically never had a drop of drink
Has 2 full time dieticians to make sure he's staying in utmost top shape and receives massages every day.
Said he will never leave Spurs as long as they keep matching his ambitions ( I guess this is a grey area but I'd take it as as long as the new stadium helps keep wages closer and we begin to pick up a cup here and there and challenge for honours we will be absolutely fine in the short/mid term )

If the above didn't happen then he'd consider the two big Spanish clubs. Hates what Man City stand for and would never join them. Hates Chelsea and Arsenal for obvious reasons but also seems to have a disliking of Liverpool. The only PL club he would ever ever consider joining was Man Utd but for whatever reason clearly stated that it would never be under Mourinho as he simply doesn't want to play for him.

That's all I know. Up to us to keep progressing and we'd never lose him. Whether that's possible given what were up against in terms of other teams finances etc is a different question.

Just happened to be reading in this one, saw the chat and finally decided to post it somewhere where it won't cause the usual attention. Didn't feel comfortable doing it during the window being open in the ITK forum

Absolutely sick and tired of everyone going on about Kane leaving. I've never heard a player say he wants to stay at Spurs as much as him and even on here people can't stop going on about it. I don't think he will leave, maybe ever but who knows what's going to happen in 3-4 seasons, stop worrying about it. It's almost as if we don't deserve him.

Everyone sells players, United even lost Ronaldo, Barca Neymar. The media make me sick, jealous fu%ke&s.
