We really do need to win this to keep any pressure at all on Chelsea and also put 6 point gap between us an City as they have some nice easy fixtures until end of Feb...not to mention staying in front of the Dippers and the Woolwich

Went over to a Real Madrid forum to see if they were saying anything about our players and came across this beauty

Some quite complimentary comments about us run through Google translate:

What a goal. Third of Kane fantasizing with Dele Alli in a tile. What a crazy couple.

Tottenham give life to the Premier

Just reading Redcafes thread on Harry Kane, actually makes me want to bang my head against the wall, the contradictory nature of the posts makes my teeth itch.

City are only 3 points behind us. We're getting too cocky and Bluemoon too pessimistic.
I agree, that it won't be easy. Augero, KDB, SIlva - these players can score out of nothing. And Pep has to get a tune out of them after Everton, or the pressure will ramp up.

Yeah that really worries me. As I feel I've seen this before. We beat them at home, city will remember and give us a right game.

beating City means Pep isn't the infallible god we were told he was & if we beat Liverpool a few weeks later then Klopp isn't the mad god the press would have us believe him to be

Maybe the press will give Poch a bit more respect too. (actually can I give myself an optimistic rating for this?)

Poch gets loads of praise in the media, mate. Even he was saying in the Argentinian interview yesterday how much love he gets over here, compared with Spain or back home.

Maybe when he's got a trophy collection like Klopp or Pep the hype will reach their levels too. He's got to bag some silverware innit.

The problem with silverware is it very rare, exceedingly so. max 5 pieces per season for a manager. The Community, the EPL, the CL, the Europa, the FA & the 2 bob cup. Yes I know I listed 6 but the CL & Europa are mutually exclusive as you can't win both in 1 season.

Then there is the Rafa that to be in the Community game you must've won the EPL or the FA (or come 2nd and the other guy won both).

So the reality is that the chances of winning a bit of silver is 1 in 4 * (the number of better or more consistant teams per comp + the random giant killers) so the chances of winning silverware are so slim many good to great managers can go years without seeing silver

Conversely this also means Ramos can win a cup in 10 games ... so what do I know

Totally agree (apart from us being cocky think thats never the case here) which is why I think its a massive must win game!
If they had turned over Everton and we had come unstuck V West Brom the mood there and here would be reversed...but psychologically our players should feel emboldened whilst the nerves of their fans will hopefully transmit to their players. Its as big if not bigger than the Chelsea game to show we are serious contenders.

Beating City will put us at least 4 points away from 5th place meaning it'd be impossible of United or City to catch us with only 48 points left up for grabs. :bookworm:

and it's a 6 pointer game plus another pointer for goal difference and 23 more points for confidence, the win streak & manager of the month award.

:cautious:

At some point fans of this club have to start believing in this team.

Why shouldn't we believe that we can win every game. How many games in the last 2 years can you say a team have been better than us? I'm thinking 3 maybe 4 games if that..... so hell yeah i expect us to turn up and win at City, we are not only playing better than them, we are better than them as a team.

This is different to being cocky like the Mancs, Arse* or Chelscum fans. We've nothing to be cocky about yet, but we have a lot to be happy and proud about.

Sorry, I don't see much difference.

Yeah, it's not a fair way to judge a manager, or a club, but that's the way it is. There will always be doubts about Poch and us as a club until we put some medals on the table. Harsh but true.
