As it says on the tin what is your preferred pairing? n

Has to be Davies and Trippier for me. I'll take positioning and quality of passing, over pace and recovery every day of the week from a defender.

Trippier's crossing ability puts him ahead of Walker for me. Very difficult to choose between Rose and Davies, but Rose in recent games has been outstanding and putting his body on the line. Was slightly disappointed to see him slowly jogging back v Arsenal at one point, but it was possibly an injury.

Think Poch needs to mix up the pairings. Rose and Trippier or Walker and Davies.

With Trippier and Davies we lack the aggression and speed the other pair brings and with Rose and Walker we've two full backs who can't cross.

Don't think it's happened yet, but conceptually I think Rose and Trippier, or at least it will be ultimately.

I love Rose as a player - often when partaking in the MotM poll, I'd say around 60-70% of the time, I find I could have just have easily picked rose as anyone else on the day. Along with Dier and Alderweirald he gives steel, heart and courage on the left, with energy and pace. I like Davies as an alternative and am happy to see him played, but rose is my left preference.

Right's a bit less definitive for me and all the wide back options do offer something different. It's a great 4 to have and be able to pick from... I like Walker and am also happy to see him play - but it's Trippier's crossing and fewer solo defensive mistakes that edge it for me. I have noticed though that he is a bit easier to beat for opponents 1 on 1 than Walker is (Rose is also difficult to beat 1 on 1).

I don't know if it's right to think of it in terms of which is "best". It's more what's needed for different games, against teams with different approaches.

Don't know if this sways anyone - but from Spurs Stat Man:

"Kyle Walker has made more interceptions (67) than any other Spurs player in the Premier League this season."

Kyle Walker has consistently defended better than Trippier this season IMO, but Trippiers crossing is always better.

His anticipation and reactions have noticeably improved, actually, something he's obviously had coached into him. He wasn't always great at looking for an interception until the ball had already been played.

Personally I'd like to see him cut inside and shoot more often, as he did once on Saturday. Since he can't cross to save his life it'd be a more productive end to some of his efforts.

I have absolutely no idea which pairing I'd like best of all but I do think it needs mixing up so we always have at least one flank we can get a decent cross from.

Depends on the team we're facing imo

Vs top 10 : Walker and Rose
Vs bottom 10 : Trippier and Davies

Both good options though. I'm very happy with our current FB options.

Walker Rose. Look at it this way against the stronger teams who would you choose if we're forced to defend.

Walkers strength pace and defensive abilities wins over Trippiers crosses.

Rose and Walker

And,

Davies and Trippier.

Rose and Tripier are each too attacking to be used effectively as a pairing, and Walker and Davies are each too defensive to be effective.

This is not to say that Walker and Davies don't attack, nor that Rose and Trippier don't defend, just that the optimal pairing will include one who is better at attacking, with one who is better at defending.

Very difficult. Davies and Trippier are better footballers, but Walker and Rose are better athletes and I think better defensively overall. It's such a shame Rose cannot use the ball as well as Davies. So often he does all the hard work, only to cross the ball straight at an opposition player.

I can't say I agree entirely with Poch's rotation policy either. I have no problem with rotating the full backs, but I don't understand why it has to be set so rigidly every other game? Surely all our full backs have been sufficiently rested that their relative attributes should be considered on a game by game basis? I think Poch made a mistake not selecting Rose and Walker for West Ham, where we needed a more physical approach.

I think that was just down to bad timing. Walker and Rose were always going to play in the NLD - so with West Ham up mid-week prior, it was going to be Davies and Trippier.

Walker should stretch teams with his physical attributes.

He doesn't.

Trippier & Rose for me.

But that's exactly my point. They have had plenty of rest all season, so why couldn't Rose and Walker both play Wednesday and Sat?

Have to say I'm quite surprised how many people are looking at this predominantly from an attacking POV. I like my defenders to defend first and foremost.
