For this XI to work, it requires having the vast majority of the ball, being in control of proceedings, and getting up the pitch and playing the game in their half and footballing our way to a result. The first 10 mins was in this fashion, good, but after that its just been a scrappy game from our perspective. Watford battling hard and often forcing us back, we're more often than not just trying to clear our lines, the ball isn't under our control, and bar a few brief patches and a couple of half chances haven't put together good spells of concerted decent possession.

It's not easy to do, but we simply must find a way to get the ball down and play and get a platform.

Toby n jan are really frustrating with their really slow play to push the ball forward.

Moura's first touch is really really poor.

Dele has been good at times but atrocious at time as well.

My thoughts so far:

Tanganga is not a fullback
We really need a DM, why aren’t we linked with one? Winks is absolutely not a DM
We need a Striker, no one is in the box. Parrott should’ve been on the bench
Lamela has been quiet today

RB potentially but not a LB, he's also had zero support from Son.

It doesn't matter if Winks is a DM or not, he's not good enough to be a 1st team regular.

Striker, yep... we don't look like scoring in a month of Sunday's.

Lamela has been non existent.

tanganga aint a lb, 3 games 3 different positions, give the lad a fixed poistion, stop moving him about, aint good for his development
Disagree with that. Its not ideal for the team, but it is good for his development. Learning the risks and opportunities across the back will only enhance his understanding of the game. But I agree it's not ideal overall.

Can't understand how Capoue's foul on Tanganga warranted no card whatsoever. Ridiculous decision.

I just don’t enjoy it anymore.
I know what you mean, I find our tactics baffling and it's no wonder we struggle to win matches. We get the ball wide then cut in and go backwards, rinse and repeat. We have nobody to hit in the box, rarely shoot from outside the box. Only look like scoring on quick breaks which we usually slow down.

Mourinho is starting to settle things down. Every game spurs look more cohesive. Still a lot of work to do, but it's starting to gel, certainly in comparison to the shit show he took over. I thought we were the better side, still look vulnerable against a counter and a touch clueless upfront, but getting there.

Agree. We need to sign a striker and a DM though. It would make things a lot easier

Var can only give retrospective red cards, not yellow. However the ref should have given it a yellow.

Officiating was all over the place in that first half. For VAR to not even review that penalty shout was outrageous. That's what fucks me off about the current iteration of the handball rule - if it had been an attacker and it had hit him in *exactly* the same way and they'd scored from it it would be automatically disallowed but because it's a defender they're not penalised for it? It looked even more obvious in the replays they showed later (which also demonstrated how blocked Oliver's view was).

How did Capoue escape even a yellow for that studs-to-the-knee challenge on Tanganga? They reviewed it for a red so it surely warranted a yellow as a baseline... Over 3 mins of stoppage for their bullshit technical problems alone but they only add on 2 minutes?

It's just dreadful. Walton's currently falling over himself to make excuses for his chums. He's a waste of perfectly good air.

Dele one bit of magic to set up lucas
Tanganga is doing ok and shame about the yellow card he caught him accidentally but since that they have been testing him and with Son ahead of him on the left wing he's not going to get any help there.

Peter Walton, most pointless person on the BT payroll.

May as well get a robot that finds any excuses for refs
