You really can’t see the wood for the trees can you?
Whether Chelsea get in the CL or not they will keep spending. Villa on the other hand are financially stretched. If they miss out on the CL they will have to trim their squad and be a little less ambitious. If they get CL it will ease their financial situation and they will continue to progress.
Two and a half years ago when Emery joined them they were in danger of relegation whist we were in the top 4 contention. Their owners are ambitious and willing to put their money where their mouth is; ours are not. We don’t need to help them to pull away from us.if we get CL and they don’t we have a chance of catching them. If they get CL again and we don’t we are screwed.

You are so right with the Villa and Emery analogy. In less than 3 seasons they have gone from possible relegation to top 4 and CL while we have gone in the opposite direction. I wonder what Levy thinks when he sees opposite fortunes. I think we all know the answer to that... he doesn't care. He would probably say but are they as wealthy as us?
It is so sad what has happened to this club and even more depressing knowing that it's not going to change.
