Aston Villa have just been knocked out of the Europa League, might be good for their Premier League season.

We have a much stronger squad than them. No worries whatsoever.

They've just agreed a fee for Richard Dunne. That's one area they were weak on.

Dunne would be an excellent signing for him if he can recapture his good form from previous seasons. He wasn't very good last season though.

Dunne is shit
He was shit last season but you don't win a Premier League club fans' player of the year award twice in a row by being shit. And he's not even 30 yet so he shouldn't be past his peak despite a poor last season.

Dunne is far from shit. One bad season doesn't make you a bad player. I don't think he'll recapture his form of the past that saw him get Man City's player of the year 3 times in a row and being one of Ireland's best players. But he'll still be a good signing for them

Villa were really poor. Looked slow and without any creativity up front. With the exception of Milner who was everywhere. Young looked shite, couple of decent crosses, but thats all. Petrov ran around a lot. So glad we didn't by Curtis Davies a couple of years ago, hes not a patch on even Chimbonda a CB. Cuella looked decent, but slow on the ball. Not impressed with Delph.

A bit pants really.

i can't get over how o'neilll is probably happy cos he can concentrate on the league, the villa fans don't give a shit cos half the stadium was empty. i would so have loved spurs to be in the europa league this season.

success breeds success and a good run in the europa would have been good for villa and would have provided a great experience for a few up n coming younger players.

Since Heskey's arrival its all been a bit down hill...

Not that its his fault, but I suppose it took away the understanding and fluidity they had going between Young / Agbonlahor / Milner & Carew.

Losing Barry and not having Laursen at the back are huge losses as well.

It would be comparible to spurs losing King (Permanently) & Palacios.

They still have their threat from Young / Agbonlahor, like we have Modric / Lennon, but their midfield lacks the same balance and quality, likewise the defence.

They looked so much better in the 4-3-3 formation which turned into 4-4-1-1 (with Young and Agbonlahor upfeild) when defending. Since they went with Heskey (or Carew) up front in a two its taken the sting out of their counter attack. Agbonlahor and Young are perfectly suited to that 4-3-3 but now they're less effective. They would be better off selling Young and getting Bentley. With Bentley and Downing out wide it would suit the 4-4-2 a lot better. Its similar to the problems we had last season when we had different players suited to different styles.

...and Dunne wouldn't improve anything so i guess it's status quo then.

Agree

There was some reports in Swedish media about an unhappy O'Neill, bust ups with the owners etc. I don't know but it's not looking so good for Villa at the moment.
