We don’t need a striker, we have parrott who just needs minutes from the bench.

We do need a striker or are you suggesting you know better than Mourinho? Parrott is a promising kid but he’s untested. Osimhen is also a young striker but he’s both already playing and scoring goals in the French top flight. We can’t rely on untested kids. 1) it’s unfair on them and 2) we’re not a lower to mid table side, we’ve got ambition and to achieve we need quality players whom are ready to step up when needed. I hope Parrott goes on to have a successful career with us but for now he’s not ready.

Yeah but this is one of those catch 22 situations where if that's your take we may as well fold the academy. He's untested because we haven't played him and according to you we shouldn't play him because he's untested.

It's like trying to get hired at a job where experience is a prerequisite, but how do you get experience if no one will hire you?

With this type of logic the only youth products we should play are ones we've sold with a buyback clause or ones we've loaned out. Except with loans then you get the "but it was only the Championship" type responses.

No I’m not saying we shouldn’t play Academy players. We’ve one out and out striker in Kane, we need another striker to step in and perform. Son and Moura can play up top but given we’ve finally started to play a settled starting XI it means moving players out of position to do so... hence why we need a more balanced squad. It’s much less risky to bring in a player who’s both performing and wanted by the manager than it is to stick a kid in who’s completely untested and expect him to perform week in week out.

Parrott needs to be eased into the team, as does the likes of Tanganga. As hinted to by Mourinho our kids need to go out on loan to gain some much needed experience, something that wasn’t happening during Poch’s tenure. Similar to what we did with Walker and Rose... both promising players, both had successful loans, both returned and earned a 1st team squad and eventually starting positions. Others however are less fortunate eg CCV - highly thought of but has had disastrous loan spells and he simply isn’t good enough.

I wonder if you could sell Lucas in the summer for about what Lille would want for this guy?

Another game where it would have been nice to have a second striker in the squad!
