We can confirm that Guglielmo Vicario has today (Monday 25 November) undergone surgery for a fracture of his right ankle.

The 28-year-old suffered the injury during Saturday’s Premier League victory at Manchester City.

Guglielmo will be assessed by our medical staff to determine when he can return to training.

Ffs! Forster is nowhere near up to the task. New keeper has to be priority for Jan 1st or it could jeopardise whole season

Disaster. I was screaming for a good backup keeper during the summer and when it didn't happen I knew we'd regret it.

When is the club going to start listening to you?
That's not relevant. I never expected them to.

It's just sods law when your a spurs fan. If there is a gap in the squad going into the season then it will be exposed during the season. Some teams get away with it, but never our Spurs.

Bad news for him and us. The display at the weekend would give anyone a confidence boost but now he has a lay off. Let’s hope for a quick recovery

I know, my gripe was with Richarlison, knew he wouldn’t be fit enough to play enough games.

Forster isn’t anywhere near as good as Vic, but practice makes perfect and playing week in week out will make him better, playing every now and again, knowing no matter how well you play, you’ll be dropped doesn’t help, let’s hope this run in the team gets him back to the form he has shown previously. He doesn’t lack experience.

We never get a break do we. Other clubs get injuries, but we get a ton of injuries every season to all our key players.

Blimey, typical luck...not even a straight-forward fracture as that wouldn't need surgery.

Are any of these free agents viable options do you guys think?

  • Keylor Navas remains a free agent after his contract with Paris Saint-Germain expired at the end of the 2023-24 season. Formerly with Real Madrid and Nottingham Forest, he is now 37 years old.
  • Loris Karius, 31, was released by Newcastle at the end of last season. The former Liverpool goalkeeper has not endured a season with regular football since 2019-20, when he was at Besiktas.
  • Darren Randolph, 37, has not made any appearances over the last four seasons, the last two of which were with Bournemouth before they released him.
  • 35-year-old former Barcelona product Jordi Masip spent seven years at Valladolid, the last being in the Spanish second tier in which he started frequently.
  • Now 37, Wayne Hennessey was released by Nottingham Forest in the summer, after spending a decade as a Premier League player.

Cheers- Reckon they're all in the same bracket as FF though

Also hoping it might not be too long out

the distal fibula is basically non weight baring and considered part of the ankle , it supports the tibia
Maybe that’s why he was able to play on

my son did similar injury and was back playing in 4 weeks

although he didn’t need surgery so maybe Vics was displaced and pinned??
If it is the distal fibula then hopefully once wound healed maybe back 4-6 weeks? As others have said break is often better than a sprain (ligament)

ps I am a nurse practitioner so have a bit of knowledge re this
