Daniel must wish PSG were still looking for a CB, still a possibility i suppose if they can find the receipt for David Luiz?

Barca will need a CB with speed - something Jan lacks. So I doubt Barca are after him at all - unless they fail to land their top CB targets.

Agree. After Modric, VDV and Bale I've become immune to it now anyway.

Also, Lloris and Eriksen leaving would be upset me far more and it looks like they'll be staying for now (until Eriksen becomes world class and we sell him to Madrid that is).

Got to be honest, while Vertonghen is a great player, I was a lot more concerned about LLoris leaving and over the moon he has signed a new contract. If Vertonghen stays, happy days, if not, I'm not particularly bothered and I'm sure DL will get top £ for him either way, especially after some of the attitude we saw from him last season.

"Our hope is that Barcelona hasn't witnessed Jans shower of shit of a season last year, as they'll be more inclined to try and persuade the injured Victor Valdes to stay with them as centre back than come for my client" says mr. Vertonghens agent in a brief statement.

I wouldn't lose any sleep if Vertonghen left imo his overrated.
Vertonghen is not as great a defender as many Spurs fan go on about his not quickest on the turn shows way to much negative body language and frankly was appalling last season.
At international level he plays left back if he were that good would surely play at CB also what people tend to forget when he made that PL team of the season in his first full season he again played a fair bit at left back.

I would rather him stay... but... he's made errors since he's joined us, sometimes his positioning is bad - maybe due to his general attitude. I do agree he's overrated - and you know Levy would squeeze a good fee out of a suitor for us to buy a reliable replacement.

Great defender but i was less than impressed with his attitude last season after avb got sacked. I'd rather him stay though.

I like Jan... but if we get good money, then i guess its time to cash in. But would prefer if we manage to tie him down for a few more years, more bargaining power!

His loyalty is fragile, it wouldn't take much to for him to confess that he wants out. I'd keep him, on one condition, that his willing to stay.

I would want around £35 million for Vertonghen from Barcelona, spend the money and sign Rodriguez and Reid.

Would prefer him to stay but if he thinks he's bigger than the cock(erel) he can jog on.

He had a reasonable WC overall - and a great one going forward.
He will have more options now than ever before.

But if he stays, he must accept that pooch, like sherwood and AVB probably will be playing him at LB for a good few of the games - especially the big games. (I've given up hope of us signing a real LB.)

Vertonghen is not a natural LB, but someone with that amount of technique must be accommodated somewhere in the team, and LB is as good a place as any. He does not really fit any position that well imo.
