Thought I'd open an unpopular opinion thread, I think I read there was one previously but it got locked because it turned into nonsense so hopefully this is okay and goes better this time round.

Remember it's unpopular opinion not popular opinion I'm pretending is unpopular just so people on the internet will agree with me.

Anyway I'll kick it off with: I think next season we need to drop Vert and Alder at the same time for a good amount of games (not just cup games) so that we can develop a Foyth and Sanchez partnership to replace them in the future and not just have them come in one at a time.

Not the worst idea as long as the games were carefully picked and it's quite probable (to me) that it might happen in early round cup games.

I'd add my own unpopular opinion.

In a couple of games last season, i felt KWP looked relatively slow, which was both surprising and worrying. If it wasn't a lack of match fitness and my eyes didn't deceive me, then my unpopular opinion would be that he isn't good enough to make it with us.

If Eriksen leaves, Dele will remind everybody that he's a world class player when played in an advanced central position and, by Christmas, we'll have forgotten why we were even worried about losing Eriksen.

I don't think Foyth and Sanchez will ever be as good as Vert and Aldo especially in Foyths case. Sanchez could develop into a good player but I'm not convinced but Foyth has never shown me that he has the potential to reach their heights.

Is this an amnesty, too? So we can't call each other out for stupid opinions?

I like Dier, fwiw. (hope this doesn't constitute a faux unpopular opinion as he gets tons of shit)

I think debating is fine, I also think the disagree rating should be used a lot, what I want to avoid is people coming in saying for example they think Eriksen is a great player and dont understand the hate he gets because 2 posters out of 50 were negative toward him.

These threads don't work, they're just a magnet for trolls.

I didn't want to use the disagree rating as it seemed harsh, given the thread is for unpopular opinions !

But i do disagree with the earlier opinion about Foyth, i think he's going to be excellent, just needs experience as a defender, the talent is definitely there.

I disagree with that opinion, see it's working already:LOL:
I think the one that got closed down was in chat, so wasn't about Spurs or even football in particular.
We'll see how this one goes, im not holding out much hope though.
Some clown will be harping on about 'Kane's overrated' before long.

As much as I love Jan and Toby I think they slow our game down to much and I'd prefer us to play with a higher tempo.

Hugo is world class
Winks is overhyped
Trippier isn't good enough to start for any premier league team

I think this is a make or break season for Poch. If we don’t win something this season then he’ll be gone one way or another. I also don’t feel the optimism that others are, even if we do sign Lo celso and Cebellos I don’t personally think they are better than what we had.

I don't agree with the make or break but what I will say is that if Levy delivers then Poch is under pressure to deliver himself, I think it was Conte who said that Spurs managers aren't under pressure and he was right, I think that demanding the chairman pushes the boat out and if he does then the manager will need to deliver. I'm not sure what that is because Man City are an unstoppable force but certainly last season in the league where we capitulated can not be repeated.

My unpopular/inaccurate opinion is thus:

Cool, we've signed Ndombele. (And Clark)

We need a lot more than that if we are going to be competitive.

Personally I reckon a further two first team signings is a minimum requirement, otherwise I think this window will be underwhelming given the amount of work the squad needs.

Only Ndombele isn't enough.

Dier is the luckiest player to wear our and England shirts. He is only effective and therefore only looks good when certain players play around him. Toby Dembele Wanyama (when he was fit) , the new Sissoko etc. When the onus is on him he passes sideways or backwards then points, that is if he is not making a badly timed tackle. You guessed it, I dont rate him. Still needed in the squad though until it (the squad) improves in personnel
