By the time we step out at Bilbao's San Mamés Stadium for the UEFA Europa League Final against Manchester United on Wednesday night (8pm UK), it will be almost 41 years to the day that we celebrated one of the great glory, glory nights in N17.

I was only 4 when we won that uefa cup but I must have watched the VHS my old man bought of it (he was at the game) about 20 times in the ten years after. The full 120 mins plus pennos.

Amazing to think we were without hoddle, clemence and a had a bunch of half fit players.

One of my most enduring memories sitting on top of my dad's knee as an 8 year old watching Tony Parks save that penalty. Then my ma cracking up as we seriously went buck daft dancing around the living room like lunatics.

Hoping my kids get to share that same experience with me tomorrow night. I'll be crying my lamps out if we manage to do it.

I was 10. My daughter is now 10. 10 is my lucky number. Hoddle was 10. It’s all starting to fit into place.
