Some good/tough games for us there, hopefully enough to get us going in this competition for once. Quite an exciting few matches, it’s bringing the excitement back to this competition reminiscent of how I used to feel about the old Cup Winners Cup. Much better than feeling you’re travelling across the other side of Europe to play teams you’ve never heard of. Surely this is better for the players too. Plus, winners get CL, could be our best route back to that.
A lot of the time, fans had to travel to the other side of Europe (or parts of Asia) to towns most of us had never heard of. I was often checking my atlas to find out where some of our opponents were based.

Top 8 go straight to round of 16, then 9-24 go to play-offs which determine the other 8.
Teams 9-16 will be seeded in the play-off round, with teams 17-24 unseeded. When the winners of those 8 ties reach the last 16, teams 1-8 will be seeded. This means finishing as high up the league table as possible is definitely in a team's best interest.

We are bookies favourite apparently, god knows why lol we've not made a EL Semi for about 40 years, never mind won the ting but sure come on Ange and the lads lets bring it home.

Nice no Sevilla and no CL drop down teams for once, both of those things should increase our chances :ROFLMAO:

League Stage Winner

Because odds are worked out based on the number of people betting on them, i.e. lots of mental Tottenham fans or bitter rivals that bet on us to soften the blow if we actually do win it.

good draw, some intersting ties, who will be our starting keeper for this? forster doesn't inspire much confidence

Actually think this new format will encourage Ange's overall philosophy of " we play, we never stop " as we'll have to approach each game with clear intent to score as many goals as we can, to give us the best chance to finish in the top 8.

Here's how the knockout bracket works. The only thing that is drawn if from each pairing to determine top half or bottom half. For example they will draw to determine if the 1st seed is top half or the 2nd seed is top half. Repeat for every seed pairing in the graphic. After that the knockout stage is set like a World Cup or Euros. No QF or SF draw. But it should entice teams to go for as high of a position as possible in the league table.

Do we know when the actual fixtures are announced? Or do we just assume the games are in the order they are listed? Ie Roma first game.

A really good incentive to just go and top the table.

Vicario. We should take this competition seriously. On paper, we are one of the strongest teams and the winner will be in the Champions League next year. The Premier League is so strong that we might end up 5th again this year. Let's finally win a trophy again!

It's not really possible for a Prem team to have a particularly bad draw in this competition. If we were in the CL and drew the 3 teams that are most favoured to win this seasons Europa League (other than us and Utd as we couldn't draw them,) in our group, we'd have considered it an absolute result.
