Sorry I just think a league format where people play different teams is utterly daft.

But hey I'm sure it makes Uefa more money somehow so that's the main thing.

I don't see how it's any different from playing in groups where some groups are easier, and some groups are harder.

Stupid question time. What is the benefit of being in pot 1 when it seems we will play 2 teams from each pot?

Still a chance they're at Hampden too with the stadium issues at Ibrox. Would surely mean an even bigger away allocation there.
I think it'd be almost the same. Scotland gave England 2,845 there, so that's probably the size of the away end after segregation etc. Might be about 200-300 on top of that in the posh seats which you have to give under UEFA rules.

None. They have deliberately removed that advantage to make it fairer and give lower coefficient teams a better shot. Coefficients now only matter for qualifiers (irrelevant to us), financial distributions, and on a league-wide level for determining which nations get the bonus UCL spot each season.

So we're winning the whole thing, right?

With CL clubs not dropping down to Europa League, most likely threat for trophy is from Pot1. And in that, we can outplay anyone on our day. So, why not

I think more important thing is, to make sure, we win our group games early and qualify for next stage so our PL season isnt affected

Just need to look at the CL draw yesterday PSG (top pot) getting a much tougher draw than Villa (bottom pot).

PSG in group stage playing City, Bayern, Athetico Madrid & Arsenal

That looks like a fun draw. Looking forward to these games now.

I’ve a feeling this format is going to be good for the Europa league.

It's definitely different. At least with the groups you know the best teams from the group have gone through.

Let's see this for what it is. A way to generate more matches for Uefa revenue.

Absolutely, but it doesn't mean that it can't also be more exciting for the fans.

said it before, and will again — we should be going all out to win this, even if it means sacrificing a good league campaign / position.
I'm pessimistic about us this season, so it wouldn't surprise me if we are off the pace in the league by the time the knock-out stages come around so I think we'll be more likely to give it a go than previous years.

Have to go all out for this. Good chance of a trophy if we take it very seriously and we absolutely should. It should be a top priority imo.

If not, then we ship Alfie Whiteman's dismembered body to the Bahamas

On a real though, I expect nothing less.

That Galatasaray fixture will be tasty

There isn’t any. The pots only exist now to ensure a reasonable spread of opponents for each team. No more groups of death but also very few dead rubbers.
