Why is there only 6 match days in the conference league but 8 in the Europa league and champions league?

Ange got it right yesterday with his selection, loads of rest for the first XI but still got the win. I’d like to see him pick stronger sides for the next couple of games though. We’ve got a tougher run coming up - Galatasary away, Roma at home, rangers away and Hoffenheim away - and even 7 points would pretty much guarantee a top 8 finish which would mean we could play the kids against Ellsborg and get 2 games off whilst the 9-24th playoffs are happening and that’s 3 really valuable rest windows deep in the season when (hopefully) the fixtures are piling up

When we win the EL do we get a Champions League spot for next season, or did that get scrapped with the recent revamp?

With 6 wins and 1 draw this week, England are away at the top of the coefficient league.
Can't see nearly as many early drop-outs as last season. It's pretty obvious that at least City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Villa, Spurs and Chelsea will make the quarters, with us, City, Arsenal and Chelsea likely to get to the latter stages. English teams are currently favourite to win all 3 competitions.

People jumped the gun with the "5th place will get CL" stuff last season, but unless I'm reading it wrong early signs suggest that it's looking way more likely this year.

EL winners qualify for following seasons CL but as they have done away with groups no longer get the advantage of Pot 1 like they used to.

Yeah to be fair after Newcastle smashed PSG, we thought they would potentially go on and qualify....only to then crash and burn like United and both failed to even get 3rd to get into Europa. We were looking good last year until those 2 teams tanked.

I don't think we need to worry this year, we look much stronger with the teams we have in Europe (not you United) and as you say, English teams are favourites in all 3 competitions so we should be getting to the latter stages.

Even more news, win the EL and we play in the Super Cup.

The 2024/25 winners gain a place in the league phase of the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League, if they have not qualified via their domestic competition. They will also earn the right to play against the winners of the 2024/25 UEFA Champions League in the 2025 UEFA Super Cup.

I swear the conference league had better teams in previous 2 years?

Chelsea, Fiorentina, Betis.

After that it's incredibly weak. Chelsea can win it with a second string.

I'm not laughing quite yet at United.

Porto and Fenerbahce away are tricky (their 2 trickiest ties) and they drew both. I think the circumstances around the games make it more laughable.

Of course the Twente game is funny cause they should be winning that.

But their next 2 are at home against PAOK and Bodo/Glimt and they should win those which puts them back in contention.

They then have Plzen, Rangers and FCBucharest so you have to imagine they win the majority of them.

Having said that, any slip ups and I think the pile on is justified.

Not sure if this has been highlighted but Richy’s goal the other night meant that we are the top goal scorers in the history of the UEFA Cup/Europa Lge

I’m not convinced they did, my wife’s a Spammer so I went along to a few Conference games with her and I have to say the standard of of the teams in that tournament the year the Spamners won it was rank bad awful. The first half decent side they faced was in the final (Fiorentina). Which made their chants about being champions of Europe sound even more ridiculous given much of the opposition they faced getting there and winning it.

Premier League clubs really shouldn't take part in it.
