Pickford has had another good tournament for England, but the way he throws himself away from the only Spanish player in the box is so Jordan Pickford.

The cross is hit so hard that the only way the shot is heading is straight ahead.

That's fair but you can't deny they are still exceptional footballers who have looked a shadow of their league form.
Spain has shown tonight (and not for the first time) that the best team wins not the best collection of individuals

Klopp is a great shout.
Would love it and might work well for him as he can stay living in England and have a less stressful job BUT zero chance the FA give the England managers job to a German.

It’ll be some dull uninspiring choice like Potter.

Spurs & England similar with Levy & FA Old boys at the helm, neither are set up to win.

hes your best manager in forever. you guys like to think you have a history, but...
He has a great track record of getting us to 2 finals, a semi and quarter.

But ultimately you have to win.

What's the point in continuing? He isn't getting the maximum out of their playing potential.

He's had 4 tournaments.

It won't get better than this.

Do you think Bellingham is a better player than Vinicius Jnr? Do you think Foden is a better player than Rodri?
Maybe and no. But as I said, even if they aren’t they are world class players who have reduced to absolutely nothing by our manager.

Why does England have difficulty producing CM or DM that can make things tick and dictate the tempo and game? Seems like that is always what England is lacking. Produce a plethora of 10’s but never a Modric, Rodri or Pirlo type player.

The media’s version of this game is obviously going to be the ‘glorious failure’ / just beaten by the better team, and Spain were the better team, but(!) in truth only one team ever played to win that game. How quickly we ceded the initiative after drawing level is a hallmark of Southgate’s management and for that reason it’s time for him and England to move on.

Jordan Pickford though - terrific display. He has his less than stellar moments for Everton but always produces his best for England. A few of the outfield players need to follow his example.
Good post.

I've said for a while that Southgate has done a good job but his safety first approach is not right for the current players. We have Kane, Bellingham, Palmer, Foden, Saka and Rice all performing extremely well in the best leagues in Europe. We need a manager to unleash that talent.

But I hope once Southgate goes he is talked about with great respect. He's done really good things for the international side.

Can't say I really agree was astonished they got to a final. England lacks any history or experience of being a top international side. I'm not sure they are good enough to win not together anyway. I think the foreign players in EPL pull up the quality of the football and hide a lot of the lack of quality in English football.
Poppycock. This England side has been to semi finals and 2 finals.

Bundesliga top scorer.
PL best player.
Ballon D’or nominee.

That team is littered with world class players, more than capable of getting over the line.

The tactics are responsible. You don’t play. Low block when you have a team of that quality.

The foreign players in the epl made Kane the player of the year in Germany, Bellingham the player of the year in Spain and Foden the player of the year in England? Southgate manages scared, he’s far more worried about what can go wrong than he is excited about what could go right. Nothing will change until that changes, and he’s had 8 years to show he isn’t going to change one iota. We need a better manager
Great players maybe but never been great playing together. A better manager? I've heard this for 30 Years. You could put God in charge and they still wouldn't win anything. England fans believe they have had great players great teams but never a great manager but there is no history of winning anything.

Morata highlighted that you can still play the centre forward role as long as you have two wingers either side running behind.

Kane hasn’t had that for England. Still think he should be in the team but we need to change Foden or Bellingham for a left winger.

But not sure how much longer Kane can stay in the team, I would be interested to see him play behind Watkins, his passing ability and Watkins ability to run behind could be a good combination.

Are England going to get the old coming second doesn't matter it's about winning and winning alone shit. Or is Gareth going to get lauded for getting us to a final again despite the talent at his disposal and the negative approach he took to the games.
