Yeah, this is the first time I've bitten down on the gumshield and criticised Kane but he was really poor tonight.
No pressing, no movement and even his touch abandoned him.

To be fair to Southgate, Watkins and his running was the perfect sub there, although I was fully expecting Toney instead.

But as @Hazelton said, Kane will start the next one no matter what.
I suppose at least we're showing that we've got plenty of options and strength off the bench, even if the starters leave a bit to be desired.

On to the final now and anything can happen now.
I disagree that Kane was poor tonight. He’s had a poor tournament but he was good in this first half. We got the ball out wide quickly, Bellingham and Foden found good positions. All that gave Kane much more space to work in which is what he didn’t have in the previous games. In the second have we reverted to type again and there was no service from the flanks and Kane was no worse than anyone else.
Im surprised that you thought Toney would come in. The way the Dutch were set up in the final 15 minutes the space was in behind and that’s were Watkins thrives.

Absolutely buzzing.

First half was great, I actually enjoyed it . Second half was not so great but credit where it's due Southgate made a couple of brave changes, albeit a little late and they paid off.

Back to back finals is unbelievable. Big decisions to be made now though, just listening to Watkins now and I reckon he will be expecting to start.
Same starting line up as today in the Final.

Really? Best moments of your lives?

Maybe I’ve lived a blessed existence but this was up there with the birth of your children and so on?
Each to their own, although I didn’t say where I ranked it in my best moments. I mean, it was great but wasn’t as good as Moura’s third in Amsterdam.

We are going through the levels. Actually think we can win this after tonight.

as long as the same ref is in charge it’ll be a breeze. Forget the disgraceful penalty award some of his other decisions were borderline match fixing and if it had been the other way around then he’d be receiving all kinds of abuse in the media for weeks and years to come.

Ref had nothing to do with the penalty. VAR called him to pitchside monitor and they are going with VAR everytime this tournament on those decisions. Not quite sure how it's disgraceful. It could have gone either way but you can't have any complaints when you are going in studs first on an attacking player. We learned the lesson the hard way with Romero against Chelsea.

The Kane stuff is just weird in my opinion.

If Kane is getting criticised for his performance last night then both Rice and Bellingham need to be criticised even more so. Rice was abject all game, and generally has been this tournament. The Dutch chances all came from either Rice giving the ball away in midfield again, or Bellingham failing to track his runner in the box.

Bellingham has bought into the hype and seems to think he is some kind of Messi reincarnate, when in actual fact he needs to go back to doing what he used to and keep the ball moving.

Foden showed more class and ability in that 10 position last night than Bellingham has all tournament.

The fact is that we are in the final, and I think the only change that will be made is Trippier not starting, Lamal will absolutely destroy him!

You can’t attribute us being shit from minute 45-80 to tired legs, especially when it’s a pattern we’ve seen millions of times before. He sent the team out to be more passive and defensive in the second half and it made no sense.

Ha, if you cant see how the Dutch changed it to good affect thats on you.

And if you can’t see that Southgate changed it to bad effect that’s on you. 4-2-3-1 hasn’t worked at all, why did he switch to it when we had finally played well

What the Dutch did had a much more significant impact on the game than Southgate's change of formation.

You can keep pissing in the wind with this if you like though.

It's funny watching all the Gareth haters squirm to say they still don't like him (because they have to keep their stance) but be mellower about it (because they now know they are chatting shit)

Love your debating style. Two teams change their formation at half time. First of all you just ignore the fact that one of them did. Then you just definitively state the Dutch change had more impact - how the fuck do you know that? The changes didn’t happen in a vacuum. All I can see is that Gareth changed from a system that was working to one that hasn’t worked at any point in the tournament. If he had started the second half with a back 3 then changed to counter the Dutch move if it wasn’t working that’s one thing, but he didn’t - he sent us out in a different formation before he even knew the Dutch had made a change. And it didn’t work, our attacking players totally disappeared second half and they were the better side second half. The fact Watkins scored a brilliant goal out of nowhere doesn’t change that.

Southgate is clearly an excellent man manager - the players love him. The downside is he’s an over cautious tactician. But the most important trait is he’s lucky, so Napoleon would love him
