But it's undoubtedly true. Back in the days the only games you'd watch live on telly were cup finals, major internationals and major tournaments. Now you can watch almost anything at any time.

Although I feel there's a noticable drop in interest among kids especially in the years since the CL has gone fully pay per view. The mid 2000s really was the best time to grow up in, in my totally unbiased opinion.

100%

World Cup 2006 was the last truly great tournament

I'm going to add another perspective on this
I've got iPlayer on in the background today, playing the Euro classics stream. It's running through the past tournaments. Currently up to 2004.
I'm noticing from 2000/2004 onwards that there were far more international players in the tournaments that played in the Premier League. Up until then, the only time you got to see these incredible footballers from Italy, Brazil, Spain etc etc was in the summer tournaments every couple of years. But increasingly a lot of the internationals now play in Premier League... to the point where its probably the most represented league in these tournaments. Add to that the over-saturation of coverage; There's nothing inherently unique to draw you in now.

England are 7/2 to win the Euros.

In case any of my fellow SC pals don't understand betting odds.

This means if you bet £10 you lose £10

Horrible opening ceremony.

Great anthem from the Scots though. What a set of fans.

Klinsmann smiling and clapping like he's at an opening ceremony. The other two look like they're ready to go on a killing spree.

Maybe the other 2 (especially the woman) watched the opening ceremony

Is that Leandro “Bumhole eyes” Trossard reffing in the Scotland game?
He has the haunted, 1,000-yard stare of the party member who's already been bitten but doesn't want to tell the others.
