I don't know whether its the election overshadowing the tournament but there really seems to be a dearth of enthusiasm for it at the moment. Hardly anyone I know is talking about it.

Ref stuff.

These major tournaments generally allow a new focus to be introduced (e.g. more added time in last World Cup). Having captains only talk to refs and a crackdown on dangerous tackles that have been allowed to be more prevalent in the modern game would be welcome changes.

Old man gripe, but there's too much football these days. They're just not that special anymore.

But it's undoubtedly true. Back in the days the only games you'd watch live on telly were cup finals, major internationals and major tournaments. Now you can watch almost anything at any time.

Although I feel there's a noticable drop in interest among kids especially in the years since the CL has gone fully pay per view. The mid 2000s really was the best time to grow up in, in my totally unbiased opinion.

Once it gets going I think excitement will be up there. Doesn't help with the election going on and the Man City stuff though.

Late 80s/early 90s :p

Big Match on ITV every Sunday. Dad letting me stay up late to watch MOTD. Italia 90. And no phones.

There are going to be some interesting players from outside the premier league.
Lazar Sarmadzic is a Serbian attacking mid/winger who looks skilful. He's at Udinese but likely to transfer to a bigger team this summer.
I'll also be interested to see how Turkey perform with Guler and Yildiz who are both extremely talented and whether Sudakov of Ukraine is suitable competition for Maddison.
I'm looking forward to the kick-off tomorrow.

Football every day for the next week and a bit. Love tournament football.
Gets even better once the Copa America kicks off.

Then it'll be a few days of:
  • 2pm - Euros
  • 5pm - Euros
  • 8pm - Euros
  • 11pm - Copa America
  • 2am - Copa America
:woot:

Yeah I'll be in bed asleep after the 8pm games. I can't do late nights anymore.

I've got iPlayer on in the background today, playing the Euro classics stream. It's running through the past tournaments. Currently up to 2004.
