Are they doing the best 2 countries get an extra CL space again for next season? If so results like Villas could be huge.

Bayern letting Kane take that free kick while on the edge of the box, deep in stoppage time and a goal down... ptsd

Thanks. That just makes the whole thing less exciting for me as part of the alure was seeing the comebacks in the return leg.
I’ve never found the group stage particularly exciting, from a neutral perspective. Apart from the last round of fixtures, which can operate as an effective knockout stage.

On this performance Kompany won't last long, they've been utterly atrocious
The centre backs were a problem last season and they never upgraded in the summer.

They tried to buy Tah (upcoming free agent) but Leverkusen didn't budge despite him not signing a new deal.

TBH Tah isn't enough, they need two new CBs, Kim just isn't working outside of Seria A and Upamencano is awkward.

Makes me kind of glad it didn't work out for him at Arsenal, he might well have cleaned up with them if they'd had a bit more patience.
Any manager who took over from Wenger would have struggled. At the time, satisfying fans and owners was an impossible job because everyone wanted instant success. Especially as most thought Wenger had stayed on for too long. Despite that, in 2019 he got them to their first european final since 2006. Chelsea won because that's what Chelsea do

Hopefully the CL will destroy villas league form. Their squad is pretty thin. They'll bank a lot of cash from it though. They've basically already qualified for the next round, you only need to win 2 out of the 8 games.

Emery has done such an impressive job there. They were a bit of a joke and sliding until he came in. They could win something this year. Certainly as good a chance as us.

Not really true, unless you're assuming they get 3 or 4 draws aswell.

Teams need roughly 10 points to finish in the top 24 and qualify for the first knockout stage, the top 8 skip this stage, but Villa would definitely be looking at top 24 not top 8.

9 will possibly qualify, all depends on how the games go etc, but teams will be looking at 10 points as a minimum to get out the group.

So yeah 2 wins and 4 draws and 2 losses should get them through, but 2 wins alone doesn't guarantee anything.
