We ain't getting the ready made quality in this window.

15th with a couple of safer bets in now, and a couple of big ones for the summer- any incoming coach would use Delap and Dibling next season

Interestingly, he left Southampton for Chelsea at 16 and returned within a few months as he was homesick. Now obviously he’s a couple of years older, but I suspect he’ll be hesitant to move abroad and we quite possibly even hold an advantage over the clubs up north.

Given his previous experience, I think it makes sense to do a deal for him to join the summer so we can ease him in. We’re also a total shit show and the manager could get canned at any moment, so not exactly ideal circumstances to set him up for success.
Maybe Bale could recommend us to him as a stepping stone to RM.

What about Brooks from Bournemouth?
He's a very clever player probably not too expensive, plays RW and ACM.
He had a nasty brush with cancer and has amazingly looked to have recovered. He's got character which is a major requirement.
We were in for him before he got sick.

100%. Seeing those (albeit minor) links to those two today has re-energised me. What an exciting rebuild we'd be heading towards. Both have proven to be star boys at PL level in struggling teams already. Better to invest in young talents with huge potential than buying the likes of Bissouma for whom Spurs seems to be their ceiling.

If we signed Dibling you'd like to think there's a pretty big chance at least two out of him, Mikey, Odobert and Yang become top top players, and understudy/rotation for Solanke seems an ideal role for Delap.

Go and beat Utd to Dorgu as well if that's the plan.
Everybody was very excited when we signed Bissouma especially considering the price.

Agree with this completely n only a complete dinosaur would not welcome those players. If we can go for them we should, but get the feeling they may be a tier to high for us to get jn comparison to Gray and Bergvall. The instant we bid for Delap city probably have a buy back clause

I've not really seen anything of the lad, although he's highly rated on here.

My only real concern is that Evan Ferguson was once the 2nd coming of Harold Kane and seems to have fallen off a cliff - might this lad also be having a purple patch?

I'm more and more convinced we won't get anyone decent in this window, but Ange really needs some quality that can start right away. I'm always happy to see us signing talented youngsters but with his injury he doesn't really help now.

Always hard to tell with youngsters.

With Ferguson, Brighton signed him to their academy ahead of Liverpool so thoughts of him being an option for us at this time might not have been true. He showed great ability but got an injury and is still developing. Too early to tell if he'll make it but Brighton won't be selling until he'll be at the stage for maximum profit.

For Dibling, now is the time to buy, if we are to. Not this month but in the summer. Southampton will get relegated and he's performed well enough to earn them a high fee. If we don't buy him this summer, we'll have missed the boat.

But naturally with any youngster, there'll be risk.

I was never convinced by Ferguson - I thought he looked a good player, but the hyperbole (especially on here) was mind boggling

I would say this guy looks much more technically accomplished - a better bet IMO

Ferguson is one of those ones who looks like he could absolutely fizzle out and be a lower league striker who had a great run or could be another Harry Kane and there be absolutely no in between.

His breakout season was a bit like Kane’s breakout where everything they touched turn to goals. Players can have those runs and never have them again, but with Ferguson that seems to be what people are basing his potential on. He’s had some awful injuries which doesn’t help things so it will remain to be seen whether he’s the next Kane or the next Andy Carroll.

Dibling on the other hand is being based on his overall play rather than every other shot he takes going in. He looks electric ball at feet like Grealish did when he broke through - but with even more pace than Grealish ever had. He’s looked good in an appalling Southampton team who have struggled to string 2 passes together so it’s not like every attack is going through him or he’s getting a lot of the ball to attack the fullback 50 times a game. He’s looking effective every time he does get the ball despite those being few and far between which is definitely a very promising sign.

Evan Ferguson will go to the very top if the injuries subside, I’ll plant my flag on that.

Have seen him first-hand in training multiple times and he just has ‘it’.

Narrator ; And the deal indeed was not done.
You'd hope that they're trying to initiate a bidding war after us and RBL have expressed concrete interest. Lange does seem to be good at making a case to young players.

Maybe - but you had people saying we should have spent £130m on him

That's madness IMO. Good young player, might go on to become a great player. Might. But the numbers being talked about were crazy
