Now we hear of scare stories before every tournament but the stuff I saw yesterday was worse than any other tournament.

Apparently the police are involved in shooting protestors and people in the Favella's after struggling to cope with protestors. The protest started after the police saw some suspected drug dealers and a professional dancer was killed apparently with a stray bullet.

As well as that police killed a 17 year old in a crack down operation on the Favella's this has led to riots all over rio with a bus been torched. I also heard on the bbc world news last night that a 71 year old woman was shot by the police as it has been struggling with crowd trouble. The reporter said this has happened as a result of inadequate training given to police in the prep of the world cup.

If anyone is going i would be careful as it seems the country is not happy with the world cup. Which is understandable, people being evicted from their homes and etc on the promise of a great bid.

The bid has been a shambles, they promised the public that it would be mostly private funded and there will better infrastructure. The bid has been nearly all public funded and the infrastructure plans like upgrades to trains and airports had to be scrapped due to funding and not enough time. Also the stadiums have taken way too long which has resulted in the government having to rush it to get it ready which has resulted in deaths of construction workers
