Don't think Rose or Davies will be ready opening day. We may have to start the kid Geogiou at LB against Villa.

Think I remember some of the context, although I'm not privy to details. Spurs played Liverpool last September, Liverpool won 1-2, Alderweireld and Trippier were at fault for one goal each, and subsequently both players remained at home (ie. didn't even travel with the squad) for the following away match in CL. Make of that what you want.

Is it 2+2=16?

I’m just relaying facts, one is free to derive what one would want from facts. But I will add that at the time, Pochettino ruled out fatigue and punishment for poor play as rationale for not even taking them on the trip.

Really like Trippier. Good interview, just telling it like it is. He’s been complimentary about Spurs in other interview, this was straight after a game and he’s clearly tried to be honest but stopped going into details.

Many fans threw him under the bus after one bad season after the season of his life. I for one hope he does really well in Madrid, he’s a good player who had one iffy season. At this point in time we haven’t bought anyone better, so we may come to rue it

I am disappointed in trippier, he should have said “thank Tottenham, I fancied a new challenge, i have always wanted to play in Spain”. Job done everyone happy.
Why say that if it's not the truth? Personally I'd like to know what's going on with Rose also and especially why we are not asking for market value

Best post on this subject so far. He was awesome the season before last and was a key reason we were able to break forward so quickly and destroy teams. We missed that last season, obvs down to his form.

I was told relationships with key players behind the scenes deteriorated across the season due to form and mistakes and then moreso as he made mistakes in key matches towards the end of the season and in the CL. He got frozen out, and his position in the team became untenable. Poch still liked him but the player wanted to go and he didn’t rate him enough to fight for him. It happens - even in the most ‘together’ of teams. But there has to be more to it than that for us to sell him so quickly and so cheaply.

Personally it feels unfair if true, lots of players underperformed last season, Eriksen and Alli in particular had awful seasons, Alli’s had two awful seasons in a row in fact, and yet they seem to have gotten away with being undroppable in Poch’s eyes.

Whether it’s true or not an on-form Trippier is an asset for any team. Good luck to him.

Agree with you completely.
1) I will never fault a Spurs or ex spurs player for simply being plain and honest. Direct honesty is not appreciated enough in England.
2) The fullback that Spurs fans would want doesn't or almost doesn't exist. Trippier was a solid player for us, and I'm happy he gets a breath of fresh air in his career.

"When what I'm doing is right and truthful, I don't give a damn about any other considerations. I tackled it head on." - Poch in his book about dealing with a player he had fallen out with. He wrote about his strong will and how he dealt with club heroes and leaving players on the bench and only bringing them on with a few minutes to go. He alludes to the fact that when he wants to move players on, he moves players on.

Don't get the overreaction to his comments, actually yes I do we're talking about social media and modern day snowflakeism where people need to be outraged at absolutely anything :D

Well, I wasn't expecting to read this.... https://www.thetimes.co.uk/edition/...ing-lengthy-ban-for-betting-charges-c7mpth2nq
(Sorry that it's hidden behind a paywall, but the Times has reported that the FA has charged Trippier with similar betting offences to those brought against Daniel Sturridge, alleging that various "friends of Trippier" placed substantial bets relating to his proposed transfer to A Madrid in July 2019. He now has a couple of weeks to respond but potentially faces a significant ban from the game.)

I do wonder whether some of our current and ex players were just born stupid or if its the way we train them
