Ok, it's that time of the window where we've done fuck all and we're desperate and you're all bursting for a thread to post your football manager based fever dreams.

What do you want to see happen over the rest of the window?

I'd find the best DM we can possibly afford, spend whatever it takes, and then whatever's left on a RW and defender

We all wake up and realise the last 24 years was some kind of "who shot JR Ewing" dream/Nightmare.

In truth, I’m open to players that come out of leftfield and are less heralded like Kinsky, providing they are as natural a fit as he already seems to be. Doesn’t need to be a big well known name. That’s surely the reason we bought in Lange and his team, to identify lesser known talent of high ability/potential, so we don’t have to fish in the same pond as bigger spenders, and get more from our budget as the likes of Brighton etc continually do.

What do we need ?
1. A LB that Ange actually trusts, to cover Udogie in the short term injury, but also once fit, to rotate with him and challenge him, keeping him fresh and motivated for form (allowing Spence to do likewise with Porro). Dorgu is the only name I’ve seen mentioned, but if Utd are sniffing, it’ll turn into a bidding war that we won’t win. Defeats the object of Lange and his team.
2. A dynamic forward, short term cover for Solanke so we don’t have to use Son centrally, but if he could also play RWF to push Johnson, that would be a double win. Again, outside of RKM (that ship has sailed), only other name I’ve seen is David, who could be the player ITK alluded to about trying to get his club to let him leave, as despite his contract running down, allegedly Lille think they can hang on to him. But, as above, these players are fairly well known and in demand, so not a Kinsky type scouting find.

Can only hope we are working on players the media are as yet not aware of. Kinsky story came out of nowhere.

I’d still like to see us get someone to place more control in our midfield, a real general or powerhouse that stops us parting like the Red Sea every week, but I just see that happening this window. In truth, I reckon we’ll get one player in if we are lucky, and that’ll be an ill fitting opportunistic loan who probably won’t really resolve our main issues, eg Rashford or Ansu Fati.

Personally I wouldn’t waste time on looking at CB’s, with Davies now fit, and Romero & VDV also close, plus Vuskovic on the horizon. I would look at getting Veliz back if we can’t source a CF, assuming his loan isn’t really working out. Better to have him back with us than keep using Son centrally, and get Lankshear a decent loan to aid his development.

Oh, is there an option to want a new manager and coaching staff on the transfer wishlist?

Concerns me a great deal that we don't seem to be linked with any DMs, despite that being our weakest area IMO. So that would be my priority, but I don't even know who we could look at who would firstly be available and secondly be interested.

Cover at LB is crucial, if we can get Dorgu then great, hopefully United's financial woes will play to our advantage there, although I doubt it.

A right-sided forward would be helpful, ideally Mbuemo but since that's unrealistic maybe Delap.

I fully expect Romero to be pushing for a move in the summer if we're languishing in the bottom half and showing zero ambition, so if the opportunity comes up to sign a decent, experienced CB then we should take it.

Sadly though I think all of the above is immaterial, for two reasons - 1) The club won't spend the money, and 2) I sadly no longer have faith in Ange being able to get the best out of the players at his disposal.

-Experienced CM with defensive ability.
-Left footed defender with pace.
-Right winger who has the mentality to attack a full back and can dribble.
-A support striker for Solanke (unless we are confident of Richys' current fitness and availability until the end of the season.

Or a combination right forward - who is adept on the wing and can be a presence up front.

We would actually need a LB, CDM and RW. Players who are not only talented but also a bit experienced with a strong mentality and best case at least one true leader, ready to wear the armband rather sooner or later.

Can not think of any names fitting the profile and being realistically available in January. And neither do we get more than one outfield player in.

What we desperately need is a top quality right sided attacker. We also need a player who is quick and who can cover LCB and LB. I'm not as concerned as others re: DM because I want to see Gray get his chance there however if we can bring in a very experienced one right now to cover and help bring Gray on for a year or two that's fine by me.

we get at least 1 if not 2 and they're someone @Ghost Hardware approves of.
god forbid we get another has-been/crock on huge wages that we're then stuck with (marcus i'm looking at you)

Would try for Nathan Ake. Left footed centre back who can cover full back. Has pace to play in a high line, decent on the ball and has PL experience.
He is probably surplus to requirements at City with Gvardiol being favoured before the new defensive arrivals.
Homegrown too which is another benefit.

Dibling and Hato or David Hancko would go a long way for me in this window.

I don't think there's a DM out there that improves us enough in this window for us to buy, as IMO our issues stem equally from the way we set up in the build-up and controlled attacking phase.
With better attackers who don't lose the ball so easily in dangerous positions while the rest of our team commits forward, I dare say we might cut out at least 30% of the goals we concede.

I'm at this stage right now that if we sign Akinfenwa I will find a way to convince myself that yeah if used right he can turn our season around.

A wide attacker that isn't scared of the ball and can dribble.

Moore on the left, new guy on the right and suddenly more space opens up because dribblers attract attention.

On Sunday Moore had three defenders focused on him when they quickly realised that he's a threat.

Having 2 full backs for 2 spots seems the current situation most likely to produce fresh injury. Also, Porro has most visibly had his form destroyed by overplaying, of our players.

So, this actually produces an opportunity to overspend without overspending - the additional, immediate term benefits in injury avoidance and freshness which buying the best LB available would provide, given our plight, help justify the January premium

Then, when Udogie's back, worst case scenario is we're left with a decidedly backup LB, which is ok in terms of squad numbers at least, because we only had Udogie to begin with

Mbeumo
Douglas Luiz
Hato/Hancko/Dorgu
Cherki
Dibling

Would be delighted if we managed 2 of the above this window, in that order, but we all know "it's too difficult in January".

We should also be all over a deal for Wissa if he's available at all after Nottingham Forest bid for him.
