True. We have 28 first-teamers over 21 years old at the moment (I think):
Gomes, Cudicini, Friedel, Walker, Naughton, Kaboul, Vertonghen, Gallas, King (?), Dawson, Bassong, Assou-Ekotto, Rose, Bale, Huddlestone, Jenas, Bentley, Lennon, Parker, Van der Vaart, Modric, Livermore, Sandro, Sigurdsson, Pienaar, Yago Falque, Defoe, dos Santos
(plus the U21s: Smith, Caulker, Townsend, Bostock, Carroll, Ceballos, Fredericks, Gallifuoco, Luongo, Byrne, Mason, Nicholson, Parrett, Pritchard, Kane, Lancaster, Coulibaly)
I would guess it's unlikely that Gallas, King, Jenas, Modric & Pienaar will be registered with us on Aug 31st (for various reasons) - so that would leave 2 spaces in the registered squad.
Gomes/Cudicini, Bassong, Rose, Bentley, Yago & Gio must also have doubts about whether they will be part of the squad.
Definitely need to shift a few if, as expected, there are more signings to come.

Also Button and Obika (and technically Khumalo until the club announce his loan move) count as over 21's.

In all fairness that Southampton side were playing out of their skin and in their managers position I wouldn't have wanted to change anything (by playing Falque) either.
Very true. Just meant that for whatever reason, his first yr in English football has been a little directionless. Hopefully now though, he's a bit more settled. Learnt a bit of the lingo etc and there's a new man in charge. He does well enough, he can become part of the squad.

not where I come from mate. Round here thats how you stop yourself getting a hiding

a lot of moral high ground on here............most of us would do the same. Getting in a pre-emptive strike can save yourself a hiding or potential hassle

a true story that I have used for humerous effect

I will elaborate to reduce the levels of disgust.

I was at the train station (sober and chilled out) dropping my wife off. After she got on the train I left the station and walked towards the Gay nightclub which is on route to the car park where I was parked. I then heard a voice shout out "Oi you f*cking ****!" not once but twice. I looked around thinking, oooo this might kick off, lets be nosey. Except when I turned around I saw the fella was shouting at me. He was worse for wear I admit. He had been thrown out by the doormen. I politely told him to shut his trap and save himself the embarrassment and walk away. At this point the doormen apologised and tried to get the geezer to fuck off the other way. He then became irate, effing and blinding at me. I walked towards him and told him again "If you keep this up mate, youre gonna have a bit more than a hangover in the morning!"

Do you think he listened? No! So I took one swoop with the right and followed through with a headbutt which landed on his upper chin. I apologised to the doormen and passers by and made my way home

Was I in the wrong?

On so many levels in my opinion :( . The guy was out of it big time, the bouncer should have dealt with it, but the most important thing is that you have brought homophobia into it. Your previous statement about it's just like hitting someone with glasses gave the impression it was because he was gay, not pissed. Maybe you were pissed last night when you posted it?

Maybe the mysterious Keith was right then

If Levy can show Modric we are going places and maybe give him a bit of a pay rise maybe he will stay

If we do get money or have a takeover, I wouldn't want Modric to be a part of any new success, purely out of spite.

homophobia?

:ROFLMAO:

I hit him because he was acting like a ****. I was guilty because like it or not it felt like I was hitting someone I shouldnt have.

If it was someone like Mike Tyson then I wouldnt have felt that way, except he was more like Alan Carr.

The fact he may or may not have been gay played no part until I had chance to reflect though

moutinho sandro and modric would be some midfield 3, especially considering we could mix things about by brimng parker in to see out the game

Not really related to any sort of Transfer Twitter is it guys?

Let's not make Stoof get all "Ban Day" again. And yes Stoof is the sort of **** that will refer to himself in the third person.

Jan Vertonghen: Of players to play 2+ CL games last term only Xavi (114) & Busquets (82) completed more passes per game than Vertonghen (78)

I know I know we've already signed him so not Transfer twitter, but stats like this are great.
Since there are a few Twitter newbies about, Whoscored.com is a great website too (think real life CM/FM style stats) and a good twitter follow. No affiliation!

I accept this is how you meant it, but read your post back from last night and you'll see that it could be construed that it was because you thought he was gay - aligning that to someone with glasses, not that he was pissed. That's all. I've been guilty more than enough times of thinking I'm saying one thing in a post and saying something else. That's why I got booted out of the last place I was in... No need for any more on the subject though eh?

Edit - only just seen Stoof's reminder and agree (y)

WOW talk about on the high horse... no paid attention to when Ryan said he felt bad, that he gave the guy plenty of warning and the fact that he could have done a whole lot more then just punch and nut the guy, who obviously deserved it. Dont start branding people ''homophobic'' - this is neither the time or place for it or for this discussion. If you take offence or exception to Ryan's tale thats fine but he's been pretty cool about it so cut him some slack - you werent hurt, you werent there and your not involved so lets get back to the SPURS talk as it should be and leave it as such...

Rant over!!! Lets all be friends!!!!! :D
