I actually don't think most fans think we are at that level. The point I was trying to make was that Utds, Arse, 'Pool etc., will still bag domestic cups or perhaps a Europa Cup during their barren spells. Us on the other hand under Levy over 23 years...
So we aren't at their level but they are picking up pots and we aren't but should be? :cautious:

The problem is that 4 or 5 clubs have hoovered up every major honour over the last 20 years. Now, there have been exceptions, but that's generally what they've been - exceptions.

We are almost in that club - in terms of money, stadium, reputation, ability to attract a player etc but not quite and I think this is where a lot of the current frustration is. If we'd been at the Everton/Villa level then I don't think people would be quite so upset, but we are so close but never quite make the step.

That level is PLs and CLs as measures of success. We obviously ain't there although we did make the CL Final against all odds. I agree that we are at the rung below, but above the Evertons and Villas.

Still, there have been some underwhelming Arse and Utd teams that managed to snag the FA Cup several times during their lean spells. We haven't even made an FA Cup Final in Levy's time.

I am not ITK, but I'm convinced that it won't happen until the price is dropped. From the investing perspective we are not a title contenders and the gap in income between us and Liverpool, CIty or United is too big. We cannot add 200 mil. our income as we are not a title contenders. From the sporting perspectives, we need a sugar daddy with a limitless pocket as the suitor has to pay as much as Lewis and Levy want and heavily invest into the squad. We are now a middle table team. All potential suitors are waiting now in order to get a leverage to decrease the price.

I don’t think our league position matters.

the price is being driven by being in the premier league, the stadium, the gate receipts from the stadium, the commercial partnerships from the stadium and all the other infrastructure like the training ground.

To push us up a few places is nothing for the investors were talking about.

Spurs have always been the best of the rest. Unfortunately there's no trophy for that. Our best hope was for the top teams to join a super league but ironically we were also invited.

Better the devil you know than the devil you don’t. The grass isn’t always greener. I’ll take my chances. We’ve have decades of ENIC basically taking us for a ride to nowhere. They did what they set out to do, I cannot wait until they cash in and we can at least move on with the hopes that the next ownership group actually understands what sporting success means.

We managed to win more trophies in the decade that Spurs forgot (or which forgot Spurs, however you want to frame it), the 90s, than we have in almost a quarter of a century under ENIC.

In that time Birmingham City, Middlesbrough, Blackburn (against us) and Swansea have matched our 1 League Cup triumph.

The likes of Pompey, Wigan and Leicester have managed to win the FA Cup.

I dunno, we seem to have swapped out at least winning a cup every now and then for being the worst of the best in the league. It's like football purgatory. We won more cups when we were perennially 10th/11th place.

No idea why I types this all out. The utter futility of this club now is depressing me though.

Without wishing to kick you whilst you're down. In the 90s Tottenham had a 100% win record in cup finals, albeit after 2 finals.

Compare that to ENIC's success rate of 17% from 6 Cup finals. Oh, and we haven't scored a single goal in the last 4.

The joys of ENIC and their sustainable ways.

Do clubs tend to sack managers in the weeks or months before they are sold or do they keep them on. Newcastle kept Bruce on for example.

If they sack Ange I think it is a very key indicator that they are going nowhere quickly.

Apologies for the bump (or getting peoples hopes up) but thought it pertinent that today Tottenham issued a share allotment which is generally a mechanism used by companies to raise capital and attracting investors.
