You did not mention inferior quality, We finished 8th in 2022/2023 with those players with the 5th highest wage bill in the league. Arsenal finished second with the 6th highest. Liverpool finished 5th with the third highest, Chelsea finished 12th with the second highest and Man Utd finished 3rd with the 4th highest. Brighton finished 6th with the 4th lowest and look to be doing even better this season.

We finished 5th last season without them and with a speculative lower wage bill then in 2022/2023.

Only Manchester City wages have been relative to their league position over the last few seasons and guess what, that looks like it's going to change this season as well. Modern Premier League Football has started to catch on that top class Scouting and Coaching has a far bigger impact then spending.

Apart from Kane, none of those players where first team regulars anymore, Hojbjerg was behind Bissouma, Bentacur and Sarr, Dier and Sanchez replaced with Dragusin and if needed with Davies and several young promising defenders and Lloris with Vicario. The potential of our squad is better with their replacements. Kane I agree with to a certain degree but Solanke fits better with Postecoglou, our pressing would be lethargic with Kane. Are we now complaining we have replaced our deadwood with better players or players with far greater potential because they might be on lower wages?

If anybody wants to provide solid evidence that our wage bill has been reduced because of our transfer business over the last two seasons, then please feel free to do so. Otherwise it's just speculation from people with their own biases.
All the talk literally about reducing our wage bill comes from P'Okeefe lol.
It's just normal that a younger, more unproven players earns less than more experienced pros. It would be problem if they weren't rewarded after improvement, but it's not the case here with Pape and Destiny already extending their contract. If reducing wage bill would be our priority, we also wouldn't extend Timo's loan.

To be fair, most of these were players with tenure that had been given new contracts due to loyalty/performance with pay bumps, not the salaries that they were employed on, so it's a given that the wage bill would hopefully go down and would be the same situation in any club.

I'm not sure that saving salary outlay by replacing Lloris , Sanchez and Dier with Vicario, VdV and Dragusin is a bad thing unless you're just looking to put a boot in to be honest.
not a bad thing if the money saved gets put towards further squad improvements

Wage reduction is more related to age reduction in the squad. I don't think there's this weird motive to it. I think it's just the result of us changing direction and going for youth. If they develop into top players they get a bumper new contract. It's just that fans want a more complete team now as well as a plan for the future because it's felt like we've gone nowhere for so long. It's just hard to have patience with the owners. I wish we had this approach after Poch. It's like a 5 year plan became a 10 year one.

Tottenham Hotspur hasn't paid shareholders dividends since Alan Sugar's time, so ENIC are hardly 'squeezing every last penny' out of the club. They will only realise their profit if/when they sell all or part of their holding.
Apologises, I didn't explain myself well enough! When I say "squeeze every last penny" I was referring to the commercial aspect of the club.
The sponsorship deals, spreading the name of ENIC and gaining contacts throughout the word in business terms.
Once they have exhausted this, they'll sell up for a hefty profit and go to another club, buy cheap and repeat the process.
Levy is the highest paid chairman in the league, there's other ways of extracting cash without having to pay out to the majority, do you seriously believe that Levy and Lewis haven't made money out of us? Come on!

The Glazers couldn't sell Manure for the price they wanted, why does anybody think that anyone would be interested in giving Levy/ENIC a huge profit on their valuation of the club.
Been looking for investors for ages and still no one really interested by the looks of it.

Yep. They're stuck with us as much as we are with them at this point.

That's what it looks like , when you look at previous club sales Levy/ENIC will be looking for far more ,so who is going to pay the sort of money they want.
Figures are approximate, Chelsea was a forced sale at around £3 billion + , Man C were purchased for £200 million, Newcastle for around £305 million, Glazers got Man U for about £790 million and the Ratcliffe purchase of a minority stake now values them at about £5 billion, can't find anything on how much Al Thani paid for PSG.
Think our stadium alone was valued at £1.5 billion in the last accounts that makes Newcastle look very small.

Qatar, Abu Dhabi and Saudi all own clubs so who is left with £5-7 Billion that Levy/ENIC will probably want

I thought we would have had some cash from naming rights for the stadium by now so hard to imagine the takeover is going to be smooth sailing

Not expecting any movement on that as in the Bloomberg interview Levy said naming rights “no longer a top priority”, don't think he has added to that since that interview.

There is a very shallow pool of investors who are willing and able to pay £5-£6bn. If there is a potential buyer a sale of this magnitude will be drawn out over many months.

ENIC are under no pressure to sell and will happily wait for an acceptable bid however long that takes if at all.

Missed opportunity. I would have given him a quid at least to have it named after me. Half upfront rest split over 10 years.

🚨Finance expert Kieran Maguire in his latest interview said that Amanda Staveley might be shifting her towards investing in Real Madrid instead of Tottenham Hotspur given her interest fading in Spurs;

🗣️“I’ve been hearing stories that private equity and football isn’t working as intended, mainly because they don’t understand how the business operates,” says Maguire.

🗣️“Real Madrid basically have guaranteed participation in the Champions League, whereas Spurs don’t. So they are much more de-risked than Spurs.”
