They were according to bookmakers, they had better ELO, Monaco's form in Ligue 1 dropped massively in last few months. The difference obviously wasn't as big as City vs Spurs in Carabao, but they still were favourites.
Well they certainly weren’t favourites at the start of the tournament and they certainly wouldn’t have been final favourites if Mourinho wasn’t their manager. Neither of those clubs have won CL in the decades since. Mourinho is rubbish now, but he was clearly good back in those days.

Conte’s intention in saying what he did was never to drop truth bombs in the hope that the club would open its eyes. He was forcing Levy’s hand because he wanted to leave with a payoff.

He had 12 weeks left on his contract.

As I recall he refused renewals at Inter and left at the end of his contract without a payoff.

So whilst he may have refused to leave money on the table at Chelsea or Tottenham, and have complex motives, this narrative doesn’t quite stack up.

If a club is run how he believes it should be he stays. If not he blows up as we’ve seen.

Look at how Ramos, AVB, Hoddle, Mourinho all talk about Levy.

They all hit upon the same points Conte made.

Every single manager who’s been here has told us on the way out that Levy isn’t really interested in doing what it takes to win. It’s that simple.

Poch has said previously that when we got to the Champ Lge final the board celebrated as if they had won it. To get to the final was all they wanted ,rather than pushing on and winning it .

Not sure this is true. There were rumours of Nike and other commercial partners being very nervous if we had won that final as they would have had to pay us out millions in rewards.

They dont want to push on and do anything but get champions league though, that much is abundantly clear. The cups mean nothing to them either as we saw with the sacking of Mourinho.

I'm beyond bored of them, they need to go, but I am uncertain they want to at all. We are basically Newcastle under Ashley at this point or how were were under Sugar at the end, we just need to be sold.

They are fattening the bird. Wages been reduced significantly, Revenue way above what we are spending in windows. Every penny we make is NOT going into the first team. Getting shiny hotels over adequate squad members. And its being branded as a "project" and "rebuild". Incomings are comfortably exceeding the outgoings.

We are being well and truly mugged off.

But the manager and players as usual will get all the stick....

Hoddle is treading carefully with his words but he is basically saying the football side of the club has lost its way and the culture isn't to win and that for the last 30yrs is on Levy... those starting to doubt Ange, please see where the real issue is.

Some ex players have been a lot stronger than that in private.

We have one or two of these every year and they never happen most likely because there is never a price for Levy. You could offer him £10bn and he’d probably come back asking for £11bn

I don’t think anyone disagreed with him. I think people thought why the fuck is he doing it in the way he did and also why the fuck isn’t he taking any responsibility of which there was plenty at his door too.
Conte handled it terribly and that’s where my issue is with him.

Reading between the lines there was 100% a change in demeanour in summer 22. He clearly didn’t feel that he’d be given what he was promised and I think most of us recognise that the window was OK but hadn’t gone as expected, particularly with the centre backs.

I think that moodiness combined with the personal circumstances probably fed through to the players and they seemed to stop playing for him like the season before.

Where Conte was at fault was by not putting his grievances aside for a season and acting professionally. Then he should have resigned at the end of the season and that was the time for the truth bombs. It would have also had a much bigger impact had he done it then off the back of say another top 4 finish. Levy would have been in massive trouble.

Levy must be happy. He has achieved top spot for something close to his heart.....real estate. Best financially run club with the best stadium. Levy must be creaming himself.

1. Tottenham Hotspur - Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Opened: 2019 Capacity: 62,850

For the first time since the early 1960s, it’s Tottenham who finish top of the table. This stadium looks like something from the future and the architecture is stunning, with top-of-the-range food and drink options on site - including the Goal Line Bar, which at 65 metres is the longest in Europe.
Although Spurs’ on-pitch performances have not been up to scratch in recent years, their stadium is certainly state-of-the-art and worth a visit for any fan – even if your team is not playing there.
The atmosphere is decent but certainly better when big teams are in town, as is the case with any of the sides on this list. The stadium provides nods to history such as a white circle on the floor that marks the previous centre spot at White Hart Lane.
The only thing that lets it down is that the stadium is poorly connected despite being in London. The walk from Seven Sisters is always longer than you think, the White Hart Lane London Overground station is not big enough to serve such a big stadium and it is a nightmare to drive to, given the traffic and lack of parking options.
