Ange said himself during pre-season that he considers Gray & Bergvall to be ready now. If they're not ready now, perhaps the club was misguided in backing him in signing them, rather than failed to back him. The alternative is that Ange was lying, even though doing so only creates a rod for his own back.
But what is he meant to say. If he said this was a cub signing like Conte did everyone would be calling for his head.
I dont think anyone is unhappy with Gray or Bergvall, these are the kind of risks we should take. But we have somehow come to accept just this and one first team upgrade. That isnt even standing still, it's going backwards.
Jose probably didnt want Gedson Fernandes or Rodon, Conte likely didnt want Spence or Lenglet. We need to buy more ready made players, other clubs in our tax bracket do so we should.
Ange has to do better, thought he was very poor on Saturday but the squad is bang average honestly.
