What can a new owner do at this stage? Maybe up commercial revenue some more and maintain the training ground etc without adding more debt but eh. The UEFA 70% rules means they're not going to come in and spaff a billion quid in one go like the doped clubs were previously able to anyway.

I get DL has made some dreadful football/transfer decisions, and I agree with you, but I was pushing back against the statement that Levy overprices the club, and that has been the sole reason why any takeover/investment talks have come to nought.

For me, I don't think that is the main problem. The main problem is the financial aspects take the priority over the footballing aspects (the reason why the club exists), We have seen it with the players we target and we have seen it by the competitions we prioritise.

Levy only seems to do something to benefit the club when it also benefits ENIC.

At least just support managers better. If they ask for experienced CB then don't give them Rodon. I know that Skriniar/Koulibaly were hard to get and one of them didn't want to leave his club, but you bring someone with similar quality and then Rodon as a future prospect. Proper RWB instead of unproven Spence. Not go for Sissoko instead of Mane etc. Obviously managers can also be delusional, there was no chance of us getting Hulk or Falcao for AVB. But there absolutely was to get Moutinho and we missed perfect opportunity to properly replace Modric. Moutinho was so great for so long. I think that we have a good thing going with Paratici right now, good balance of youth prospects plus Premiership proven players and just accomplished players in general.

I taught once that comment was made of talking to investors we would have reporters reporting lots of stories of people or investment companies looking to buy into us but nothing at all so far. Club obviously doing a great job keeping talks private.

I don't know what the accounting-based value of the club is, but Levy's valuation of it will range somewhere between "ludicrous" and "absurd". That's why all the earlier takeover talks have (sadly) come to nothing...

As others have said, this is a lazy post - who doesn't try to extract top value for their business? - but what's not been mentioned is that any decision won't be made by Levy. He might front negotiations with interested parties, but ultimately, presuming we're talking about a full takeover/taking a controlling share in THFC, the decision to sell is in the hands of Joe Lewis, or whoever pulls the strings now on his family trust.

Lewis is an experienced expert patient long term investor. His portfolio is comprehensive and wide-ranging. THFC is a piece that he got for what now looks like a paltry sum, and he has just had to sit back for 20 odd years, inject fairly minimal funding sporadically, watch it's (and PL footballs) value rise and rise and still not looking like stopping, and the value of his investment many many many multiples of times what he had to put in to start with, in the thousands of percent.

There are no external pressures to sell - business doesn't seem to be struggling, his legal problems have gone away (and he was implicated as an individual, rather than on a wider family or company basis), there are still things that can be done in Tottenham that tie-in with other Tavistock business interests like the large-scale property/community development and regeneration stuff, and then there are the intangibles such as the prestige of having a PL club in your pile and what seats at what tables that can get you.

Who knows what the cash out point is. Maybe with the changing of the guard in the Lewis family the outlook changes, and yes THFC have gone on record for the first time to say they're looking at sourcing new funding and partners, but THFC as an investment has only gone up and done good things for the owner, and it's a prestige multi-billion dollar chip they possess, no one is parting with it easily if they don't have to unless someone makes it worth their while with a premium offer.

How recent have you seen this? I’ve seen 400m said a lot but not sure if it’s from a new financial report or if it’s the one from 1/2 years ago, because we’ve spent a decent wedge since then.

Good point, but I guess with the Kane sale (pure profit) it would make a difference too. I think I read somewhere an academy sale allows you to spend 3x what you sell them.
