When you go on holiday on football manager and come back to find out your assistant has rejected an amazing bid for a player you were trying to offload.

I know he’s not been great this season but like a lot of our team he’s probably bushed from the World Cup. Unless we can bring in some one of top top quality, give him another season to see if he can reach his true potential. We also need to consider our home grown quota.

How long can the tiredness from World Cup duty be cited in relation to player performance? I can't recall ever having heard this being said of players for an entire season.

ETA: our team definitely is looking tired, though I think it's reasonable enough to chalk that up to injuries limiting rotation and an element of fixtures piling up. Ajax, by comparison, got the weekend off because the Dutch FA wanted to give them every chance.

Have to agree with your as per the world cup, with two games to weeks to go. You either have it or you don't. Our Full backs need upgrading. Even Rose, he is aggressive, fans favourite but how much does he contribute to our attacks.

Our game play is so narrow and depends on the full back for width, but our full backs can't produce the goods.

At least it doesn't say we told them he's not for sale.

I think the WC scenario has just compounded some of our problems. Lack of quality options is the obvious thing so that we don't rotate players or have top quality off the bench to give our top players any sort of a breather. We've had a run of injuries to our players who went deep into the WC, but conversely, when you have Sane and Bernardo Silva on the bench each week, Sterling gets plenty of down time and stays fit. The Liverpool front 3 had the whole Summer of pretty much and they too are reaping the benefits.

The first offer is never normally accepted anyway so at least Spurs know there are now options opening regarding moving the player on. He is one of my "Let's get rid of" listings and last night's performance did nothing but reconfirm that belief.
Let's face it, there's a mammoth task facing the club and unless they are willing to make a massive investment it will not be able , in any way, to match the competitive demands our rivals will be able to put upon us next season.

Of all the positions this is one I would leave be.

He has great potential and has shown that last season - this season he hasn’t been as good but that’s no reason to ditch the lad.

Him and Rose are pivotal to the way we play - and will be very hard to replace.

There are other areas : central midfield and strikers where we have more of a need to strengthen.

We would be mad to make heaps of signings - so focus on the areas that need it most.

Until he has a decent rest?

Tied with Alli and Wanyama for worst performance last night. Corners, free kicks and crosses were all terrible. Should be dropped for KWP. Gladly take anyone offering £25m for him in this inflated transfer environment...

This is what gets me.... he should be dropped for KWP?

KWP has had half a good game in a spurs shirt. The rest he has been poor - a lot worse than Trippier.

Whilst he may come good - he looks a liability, and you don’t give someone “a chance” in a champions league semi final.

It’s clear as well that Poch doesn’t trust him in that position hence why Foyth has taken over as the number 2 to Trippier in the last week.

It would take some going to be a lot worse than Trippier this season. He has consistently been our poorest performer from January onwards. Some of his play last night was shambolic. Not only did he play van de Beek onside for the goal, but his crossing (especially from set pieces) wasn't even Sunday league standard.

KWP should be given a run of games in the first XI to show what he's capable of doing. He's shown his quality in glimpses and that, combined with the lack of form from Trippier and Aurier, should mean that the kid is deserving of a chance.
