Still not getting it right, if you want to buy him then buy him for 12 million.

I assume you meant £12m from the club Swansea bought him from? The obvious risk with that is he was unproven in the Premier League at that time. Now we pay more but with some of that risk removed as he has shown he can do it in the PL but there is still a risk he won't do that consistently over a number of seasons.

For me thought it is a problem if he disappears to the African Cup at the same time as Ade does leaving us very light in the striker department. For that reason alone I'd prefer Lukaku

No real stats to back this up but if you look at Ferguson's transfer policy he sometimes seemed to let players in which he was interested go to smaller clubs and then, once experienced in the PL, used United's size and spending power to attract them. Yes he paid more, but someone else had the job of blooding them.

We have less money and prestige but I guess the principle is the same.

(Valencia and Forlan are the two names that immediately come to mind. (Arguably Carrick too)).

Just as you said, we have less money to hoard players and loan them out.

Agree on the ACN thing, but if we assume Bony replaces Defoe then we'd still have Soldado (or whoever we get to replace him) and Kane for the ACN period. Thing is if we had all 4 of them we'd need to play with 2 strikers at least some of the time to give them all enough game time. Kane will want more next season, he should be involved in the EL group stages and League cup games at least.

Wasn't Forlan signed from South America?
But I agree with you in terms of United's approach. And I'd add Berbatov to the list. I'm sure Ferguson would've gone for Modric (and possibly Bale) too but he admits in his book that United couldn't face dealing with Levy again after the Berbatov transfer!!

I would prefer Bony to be fair his all round game is better, plus Chelski won't sell Lukaku to us anyway so it pointless even bidding for him. Ben Davies is a decent left back and we need one because Rose just doesn;t fit in that position, so Davies would be a decent buy.

If Bony does come to us then Ade will not be here.

Bony, Soldado and Kane would be a nice strike force. Adebayor has fantastic qualities in his locker, but not sure I trust him to bow down to Pochettino and his collective thinking.

I thought he went to Middlesbrough and then moved. (Wikipedia suggests otherwise though).

A guy away for African nations for a month in Jan, a guy who couldnt hardly find the back of the net in the premier league last year, and a youngster working his way up. Not sure those work as a 3,but i am a huge fan of Bony
