Tottenham are interested in hiring Sevilla sporting director Monchi at the end of the season.

Is Baldini on his way then?

Baldini has a lot to answer for in my opinion. Though no club is exempt from signing poor players, Baldini has signed more than most for Spurs.

Kind of agree though think it's more about we've paid through the nose (and other less favourable orifices) for too many average players thats unforgivable.
I don't think he's brought in many you'd say are proper shit but, worth the price tags???
Thats a different matter.

I'm not sure what hand he had in the discovery of Sevilla graduates such as, Sergio Ramos, Jose Reyes or Alberto Moreno, but if its not much, then his record seems to include mainly foreigners, which concerns me considering I was hoping we'd be encouraging the recruitment & development of British talent.

I don't doubt his credentials, but I have a horrible feeling that we'd get youngsters who aren't that much better than the British players that we could be giving chances to.

We should get back Tim Sherwood. He spotted that Suarez was going to be not worth the bother.

How about Harry as he's been telling all and sundry about a number of players he would have signed, among them one Luis Suarez? I apologise in advance for any apoplexy this post may cause to some who are still suffering Redknapp withdrawal syndrome and who can't afford to go to watch QPR.

Chadli, Eriksen, Capoue, Lamela - forgive me but aren't they sort of running the team at the moment? Dier? More than most, eh? Ok. And considering that he spent a total of zilch last summer, I'd say he hasn't done a bad job of things.

People don't take into account that Baldini has to work in the black.

I don't think its down to individuals, and whether this guy is/would be better than Baldini or vice versa. The club(s) have to build a structure that allows it to identify the players it wants and to fit its model, whether that be established players, ones under the radar or at youth level. Simply its more scouts watching more football matches. The DOF is just the guy at the top overseeing it, yes he may have some contacts and his own scouts that may come and work with him, but this is pretty rare in my opinion.

Look what this guy has done for Seville on a budget that is well less than ours, and they are the current Europa Champs.

Not a huge fan of Baldy but I think this guy is a real talent and would be a great move if we could pull it off, assuming he will have some say in our transfers and that maybe the sticking point.

Fair comment, but for thirty million i'd expect an odd PL goal or two from Lamela wouldn't you?

Ah, the old chestnut about how much a player is worth. Lamela is effectively in his first season, last season being blighted by injuries. He has had a number of assists and it's only October, so a bit of patience wouldn't go amiss.

I'm not saying he's Ronaldo, but he's come so close on a number of occasions that I'd wager a bet he will have 10+ at the end of the season and 20+ at the end of the next.

Didn't realise that you had Redknapp withdrawal, Matzdorf? I take it you haven't been privy to his almost daily pronouncements as to who he might have signed.
