Did anyone watch the Great British Bake-Off last night? There was a small segment on the 'Tottenham cake' which was pretty interesting. Dates back to the 1800s and were made by Quaker's around the area to be consumed by the community. When we won the FA cup in 1901 these cakes were distributed around the area in celebration. Apparently the club still have links with the cake and have it for important events.
Sorry for my ignorance on this matter but I have never had a Tottenham cake. Are they any good?. Nice to see a bit of Spurs history on the show. Are Mel and Sue Spurs fans?. Mr. Badiel won't be happy but the Chelsea bun was not mentioned. Nice to see we have links to other religious factions too. Hope the link with the Quakers does not offend anyone!
