Are you having a laugh?
Watch the goal again, when the ball is played though to the striker he takes 2 steps back.......if that was Hugo in goal he would have sprinted out and challenged for the ball as soon as it reached the striker.

And then he would have sprinted up field, ghosted past the midfielders, nutmegged a center back and then chipped it over Krul for good measure.

Oh no, sorry, this is real life

The first poor 45 minutes were down to his wrong team selection. Sigurdsson and Vertonghen do not play well together and Sandro was brilliant against Everton so why was he dropped for Dembele?

That's fine and perfectly acceptable, but not what most of the the first few posters in the thread are moaning about. Instead they're all just reacting to the headline without bothering to read what was said.

All but 2/3 of the shots were within 1 yard of Krul, had he let any of them in he would have been questioned. Even Paulinhos was within saving range and had he not got to it would have looked a bit dodgy.
Exactly, we made it very easy for him to save them.

The question he should have been made to answer is why were we so poor (again) in the first half (again).

Its an ongoing problem that he seems to have no way of resolving.
Agreed.

His subs are in the main rectifying the mistakes in his initial selection rather than a reactory measure to how the game is panning out and to out-think his opposite number.

Even then he compounds things by bringing on the likes of Defoe when Lamela was someone who should have featured heavily in this match - not just because of his price tag, but because he was visibily so confident after his best display in a white shirt mid week and by not selecting him it was basically saying it was all in vain so why should he, or other peripheral figures make any effort midweek going to the back of beyond when it counts for little come Sunday?!

I understand the cliche of 'goals change games' and whilst Krul indeed have a blinder, we are still worryingly profligate when it comes anywhere near their goal. We are like a boxer wearing fluffy mittens - we can jab and dominate all we like but there's no knockout blow.

Krul made 14 saves - the most by any PL goalie this season, that's a bit more than a good day at the office!

Was down to Chiriches poor pass to Paulinho who should then have done better in the tackle, nowt to do with Friedel I agree with you. People like to pick the easy target.
Bollocks. Chiriches pass was only made to look bad because Paulhino made it run by him and then misjudging the Newcastle player's proximity.

these bloody statistics. Same saying we don't have a bad scoring record and doing well (with all these Europa League games in it)

If you wathc that games it tells the story. Krul did really well, but everything was made for him. He just did his job without faults, we shouldn't rely on mistakes by midtable club players.

Seriously? Friedel is not the same keeper, never has been, the back line needed to be adapted or we should have bought a back up keeper that plays a similar way to Lloris, Brad is not at fault, the main fault lie's with us fucking about with it at the back.

The point you say about putting in the effort midweek is spot on, and to add Eriksen was completely average and ineffective in midweek, rewarded with a start today. Lamela motm in midweek and gets rewarded by sitting on our bench for the 90 once again. He must be thinking Wtf.

Of course I'm having a whinge. I'm cross. Still though, Krul didn't exactly play a once-in-a-career blinder, he just had a good day in the office. Spurs are boring me and that makes me sad. Even when they weren't doing so well with the stats and all they were still a beacon of light for me, and of course it's all about me. It's three in the morning here so what am I gonna do to cheer myself up, get angry on the internet or masturbate? Probably both.

Promise me you'll look away from the monitor when you do

Having read some of the knee jerk shit on here, how the hell can we have a "let's laugh at (inset club)" thread. I've read about the bin dippers, the inbread, the crack heads......just to name a few. I really wonder what other fan sites are saying about the fans on here!
Pull your fucking selves together! Not that long ago we were 2 points from 8 games and we pulled through. We're 7th and 1 point off 4th and 5 points off 1st.

So none of you guys actually bothered to read it and find out he said the first "very, very poor" 45 are what lost us the game, huh?

This is the best post in the thread. So many have just read the headline and decided to criticise it.

In the article (which clearly nobody has read) he says the first 45 mins Newcastle were deservedly in the lead. Second half we came strong and makes the result look a bit unfair. Overall you have to say the performance of Krul was important in them holding on.

we shouldnt have given Krul the chance. Ericksen should have buried his chance, as should have Kaboul. Soldado had a free header and didnt even force a save, and whiffed on another shot completely. Im sure there were others.

Well I think I have the solution. Why don't we replace our stinking squad with the people on SC who really knows how to play and win every game. I'm sure they play for free as well. A win win situation.

Well according to him he did. Called it the best game of his life. So there's the opinion of the man himself. Should we take his word for it or yours?

PS: Enjoy your barclays ;)
