if it's over a year since the appeal then god knows how long it's been since the first application
being a very cynical person i smell dirty deeds
why so long? when the whole area is in dire need of regeneration
someone joked about dirty tricks by commitee members who may not be neutral
that is proberbly nearer the truth than you would imagine
when has cpo taken this long?

I have written to Pickles and asked why no decision has been made a couple of months ago and had no reply, I suggest everyone writes to the fat ****** and inform him that you will not be voting Conservative in the next election and CC Cameron.

The useless fat ***** , ***** **** might get off his fat arse and make a decision.

I'd also point out that if you're in the Tottenham Constituency that you should raise it with David Lammy, asking him to raise the issue at DCLG questions. I'd ask him but I don't live in the borough so he doesn't have to listen to me.

Just lie about your address and that goes for anyone living outside the country, just put 10 Downing Street or something :p

Only spurs would have one of their own fans being the final barrier to building a new stadium and not budging.

You just gotta laugh...or you'll die crying.

I just hope when it all goes through, the awkward bar stewards get less than we've offered.
Bit like Simon Jordan with Bostock and red nose and Zeki Fryers.

Possession is nine tenths of the law so the saying goes. I've been involved in planning wrangles which can and do drag on for years . In this case , Mr Josif Josif is already threatening to appeal if Pickles rules in favour of THFC, which will take even longer. As the "highly successful in property" Levy and Lewis know, £millions can make a problem like this go away.

P.S I wonder if his wife is known as Madame Jo Jo? :)

Apparently this Josif Josif character is a greedy little git. Well, it's time for Levy to make him an offer he can't refuse - and about bloody time we add some steel to the club as well ;)

Wait, what? Just saw that article, but I could have sworn there was something in the stadium thread saying that this guy was a gooner...

Of course, it's how internet factoids start: some arsehole on a thread somewhere says 'he must be a Gooner' and within a week it's an accepted factoid all oevr the internet that Archway Sheet Metal is run by Gooners. The man himself has said several times that he's a Spurs supporter. It doesn't really matter, does it?

I presume this is about the compensation fee. He wants more.

There's a great deal of nonsense in the replies to this thread and it started with this.

First of all, it's not 'compensation', it's a valuation. If the CPO is approved, the money to be paid to the party whose land is being compulsorily purchased is an assessment of its market value. Nothing else - in theory, it's not a matter for negotiation, it's just a calculation of the market value. Of course, different valuers will come up with different figures and it won't surprise anyone that Haringey's valuation is lower than Archway's.

In practice, waving wads of cash does often make appeals go away. But there's no reason to do that if the matter is still with the DCLG, because Pickles is not empowered to make a judgment on the valuation. The appeal has to be based on whether the CPO is merited in principle. This will be related to whether the property in question is in the way of a development which is in the overriding public interest. And that's got to be the main reason why THFC (and LB Haringey, I expect) are expressing surprise that this is not a formality.

If Pickles decides that the appeal is nonsense, then Archway have to take the money in the CPO valuation and bugger off. If he decides that the appeal is merited, then THFC could (probably will) opt to throw large chunks of cash at Josif until he accepts the money and goes away.

The likely reason why nothing has been done is that the DCLG is inefficient and slipshod and has more pressing matters to deal with. The person who could probably get something done about this is probably not David Lammy, because he's in the wrong party, although his voice wouldn't do any harm. The Mayor could get things moving if he were so inclined.

This is all correct. I should add that it is expected that the appeal would have been made and Archway would be digging their heels in especially in a time where the property market values seem to be rising on a weekly basis. What the market value is calculated 6 months ago may be as much as 10% less than what it is calculated at now such is the surge in the property market.
