Spurs offer England U21 star Carroll to Ajax on loan after completing Eriksen deal

Tom Carroll has been offered to Ajax on loan for one year after Tottenham completed the £11.5million signing of Christian Eriksen. Spurs midfielder Carroll is wanted on loan by Barclays Premier League new-boys Crystal Palace for the season, but four-time Champions League winners Ajax are considering the England Under 21 man as a temporary replacement for Eriksen, who moved to north London on Friday.

Spurs rate Carroll so highly that they believe he will be a first team player at White Hart Lane if he spends a season on loan at a top club. Carroll was offered as a sweetener in the deal to bring Danish midfielder Eriksen to Spurs as Andre Villas-Boas prepares for an attempt to win the Premier League title. The Spurs midfielder, who impressed in the Europa League tie at the Lane on Thursday night, will get experience at the highest level if he moves to Ajax. They are back in the Champions League group stages and have mouth-watering games against Celtic, Barcelona and Milan to come.

They also compete at the very highest level in their domestic league and Spurs believe it will help his development to play for a technical team on the continent. Champions League football will give Carroll the big game experience he needs and he will be able to learn more under coach Frank de Boer, assistant Dennis Bergkamp and technical director Marc Overmars. Tottenham want Carroll to gain more experience, but they have been stunned by his progress in the past few months and are convinced he is first team material.

This would just be perfect.

Crystal Palace are also interested in taking him on loan.

Please please please be true. He'd come back a ridiculously better player if he got the game time

Not sure how keen he would be on going there given the different language etc

Kind of strange if he plays champos and were in Europa.

Think it would be the making of him, so long as he settles down, but then again I thought that would be the case with Ryan Mason in France last season, but he didnt manage to settle in.

Think it would be easier for Caroll as most Dutch people speak English as a second language.

Good move, I personally hoped La liga but this would great as well potentially better as they are likely to have more english speaking people there and make it easier to settle in. Even the bundesliga would great.

Didn't settle or wasn't good enough? I mean his previous loan stints hardly suggested he was Ligue 1 material.

The might have legs really...can't believe it might actually happen.

"We would like to see van Ginkel playing at Ajax," Overmars told NIS.
"For that type of player we are willing to pay top price.
"I've tried, but Chelsea will not let him go."
Overmars admits they are struggling to find a replacement for Eriksen should he seal his proposed move to Tottenham.
"It is also currently difficult for us," said Overmars when asked about replacing Eriksen.

Van Ginkel and Carroll are very different players though, he might not be what they're looking for. Would absolutely love it to happen though.
True but Carroll is more of what they are looking for if they want to replace Eriksen

Yah, but the fact that Ajax's looking at loan option to fill that role alone gives me hope.
What a fit it would be for Carroll and Ajax tho.

Would be a great move, especially if we sent someone else there with him to help him settle and also get games, someone like Coulthirst maybe? Even someone like Kane, who won't get much faster but would come back a much more technically skilled player which would be important for him.

A loan has to work both ways. How the hell would Coulthirst benefit Ajax?

I'd assume Ajax is looking for a player who plays a little more advanced, but I'm sure if they were to be offered Carroll they wouldn't immediately refuse either, and that's of every compliment to Carroll. I would absolutely love to see this happen, as I think his style would do well for them and Ajax is a fantastic opportunity for any young, aspiring player.
