Tom Bender who is currently on loan at Accrington Stanley from Colchester has suffered a suspected broken neck in tonights JPT game against Tranmere.

The game had to be abandoned and he was treated on the pitch for about half an hour. He was stretchered off and put on a drip.

He is only young, and my house mate (Col U fan) says he is very highly rated.

Fingers crossed he is ok

Well that's a downer, I expected this thread to be light hearted jabs about his sexuality.

That's awful. It really depends where the break is though. Fingers crossed he makes a full recovery.

I saw the game had been abandoned and had hoped it was just a nasty clash of heads and a bit of an over-reaction to abandon it. Sadly not it seems.

Fingers crossed for a full recovery for the lad.

Statement from the club on Beeb wbesite says its a serious head injury, rather than a neck injury, so maybe its not quite as bad as a broken neck.

Think it could be more a case of the club playing it safe until they know the full extent. My housemate as I say is a Colchester fan and his phone and twitter have been going off like crazy since, Col U have held back on any statement until they receive the full story but it seems serious

Yes good news that it wasn't a broken neck and he is now recovering thank goodness.

I'm sure they'll be checking for any after-effects after such a nasty head injury.
