Almost got a yellow on more than one occasion counting to 10 and more.

(out loud, standing near the ref)
Tbf, when I played, I'd absolutely rinse the time i could get away woth the ball in my hands, and walking to get the ball (if we were winning), absolutely zero rush to get ball back in play.

The punishment would have only been harsh for a brief period of time had it been enforced, but it wasn't. Once it started costing teams multiple goals it would have soon become second nature to get rid quickly. Also there is much time wasting going on from throw-ins and free kicks nowadays.

Anyway it would be just as easy to tweak my proposal so that the clock stopped whenever the ball was in the keepers hands also. Every team who time wastes does it for a reason, take that reason away and the deliberate time-wasting stops. As a punter we'd all at least know we were getting a fair shake in every game.
Not disagreeing. 60 minutes with a stopped clock would actually ensure more football.

Its become such a farce nowadays.

They were the days, I never went and got a ball, always found something else to do!
You know what it’s like though, you’d come out for a ball diving at someone’s feet, ball is in hand and you give yourself a couple of seconds just to compose yourself, quick sigh of relief you haven’t taken a whack, get up and look at your options. That’s ten seconds.
I’ve always thought ten seconds should be the way to go, if as a keeper you can’t do something with the ball after that then it should be an indirect free kick.
They don’t need new rules, just a tinker with them and actually enforce them.
All joking aside though enforcing what they are bringing in for keepers is probably adding what, maybe an extra minute max to a half.
There’s loads of other things they could have looked at, keepers get a bad enough rub of the green as it is.

Been saying it for years we'd be better off just playing 60 minutes and every single time the ball went dead the clock stopped. At the end of the game a hooter sounds and you play till the ball goes out of play like in rugby. For all the innovation and tech that they have tried, just taking the responsibility of timing the game off the ref is by far the easiest and most sensible thing they could have done as far as making the game fairer to both teams.
They use a timer in futsal in the same way and it's a much more free flowing game. Players just get on with it.

All new rules/laws get enforced for the first month then get forgotten about and thus inconsistent for the rest of the season.

I still can't get past this eight seconds. Their solution to cut down on time wasting is to extend the time the goalkeeper can keep hold of the ball by two seconds! Enforce the current rule you idiots! I know I said it earlier, but this is what they come up with when there are so many proper issues that could be addressed.

It genuinely beggars belief.

Bah, another worth fuck all rule to give the impression they are actually doing something. Penny pinching seconds. It's laughable.

Eight minutes for a VAR decision, players diving all over the place and feigning injury like it's a cross between an Olympic event and an acting masterclass, losing 30 minutes actual playing time from every game. And so on.

But no, let's have an eight second rule. I thought there was already a six second rule, maybe they ditched it, nothing would surprise me with how the game is going.
100%.
So much more low hanging fruit they could have addressed before this.
How about when a player blatantly dives in the box and a VAR check comes back no pen but there is no yellow card?
Or when a keeper 'gets cramp' so certain managers can break up the game and deliver instructions. How about stamping that out.
Like you said the 6 second rule drifted away and so will this.

Pretty much this, tbh I thought they abolished that rule given that its never enforced.

Start carding keepers for it in the first half and watch it stop.
