If people are able to remove their anti-Sherwood goggles for a minute then they might see that this is actually quite an accurate appraisal of his contribution this season and qualities as a manager.

That'd be a mighty big if.

I didn't see Wembley (or wemvley) mentioned either unless it was a different article? Please link me if possible to that quote (not drivel) but actual quote please.

He already has done.

Eriksen has only played against England once, and it was in Copenhagen, not at Wembley. It was five days before Eriksen's 19th birthday. So when Sherwood says "I watched him at 17 years of age at Wembley for Denmark" he's either got a memory like a sieve (I know, it must be hard to distinguish between Denmark's home stadium that is not much bigger than White Hart Lane and 90,000 Wembley) or he's making it up.

I don't see Eriksen pushing for a move this summer. He is a quite modest young bloke who seems well aware that he is still learning his trade as a midfielder in a tougher league than he is used to playing in. Eriksen is still developing as a player, and his full potential appears good enough to see him joining the likes of Luka and Bale in a couple of years. Hopefully he will reach that level as a player, but we would be foolish to sell him to any rival team - and wouldn't it be nice if we could finally build a great team around a star player and break into Europe's elite ourselves instead of selling on our top assets.

On Levy's watch, I doubt it. He will always bow to the Europe elite paying big bucks. The precedent is there.

The only part of it that actually speaks about Sherwood as a manager is this......
Tottenham’s position has remained largely unchanged since Sherwood took over from Andre Villas-Boas, but he has brought a more entertaining style, and got a lot more from the players under his command, particularly the youngsters.
......which seems to me to be only partly accurate. He patently hasn't 'got a lot more' from his defenders, who are generally playing as though they are sunday league players who have never met before kick off. As for 'the youngsters' that is largely Bentaleb, who has played a lot but not actually done very much (although he clearly has ability and potential) and Kane - who wouldn't have got near the team if Soldado was on form.

The 'more entertaining style' bit is probably accurate. We are scoring more goals now that we have lost the ability to defend.

they haven't used the full quote, the independent:

"I watched him at 17 years of age at Wembley for Denmark and I rang (chairman) Daniel Levy the day after and said that he need to sign this boy - £10million later he is finally here, so that is all good news."

http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/tottenham-manager-tim-sherwood-keen-to-keep-christian-eriksen-9272981.html

doing the rounds - as in, quoted elsewhere but not in the telegraph piece.

Meanwhile: http://www.thefa.com/news/england/2014/mar/christian-eriksen-interview

“I’ve never played at Wembley. And of course it would be special to play there."

Just facts, just for you. In 2011 he was not 17. Sherwood should be more accurate when speaking, otherwise you just think he's lying or rewriting history to suit himself.

thanks Nightgoat and Lufti. I should have read on before responding to see you had already answered. Would have saved me responding to that certain individual.

I agree. But as I said the other day that won't happen until Spurs' are realizing improved revenue from their new stadium...until then Levy is keeping the ship afloat by selling on young players like Eriksen.
It breaks my heart too.

Giving the likes of Bentaleb and Kane is about the only bright spot in Sherwood's book IMO. This is also something that LVG is famed for and he will do wonders for some of the younger players....at United sadly.

I said "please link me if possible" to the article. Sorry to inconvenience you, from what must be a very demanding day for you.

By the way i understand how to read a sentence and where your emphasis was intended. No need for the capitals.

Well, ain't that polite of you. Perhaps you'd be best advised to actually read posts properly before responding next time. Just a little advice there for you.
