Because there are a number of reasons why players don't get sold.

Eriksen wanted to join an elite club. But it appears no elite elite clubs came in for him. Hence he wasn't sold.

––You know as much as I do on this.

We accepted a bid for Wanyama but the interested clubs were of no interest to the player so he stayed. Again nothing to do with asking for too much money as we accepted a bid.

––Granted.

Alderweireld has a release clause but in your mind we didn't sell because we ask for too much money.

––So you're a mind reader... say no more.

Your one-dimensional view doesn't fit every scenario.

Sounds like it’s ok to keep standing in the south lower then. Great.

  • They had risk-assessed the areas where they thought people would be more likely to stand and looked to make those areas safer for those fans. Hence installing integrated bars for 3000 fans in the away section and for 6000 fans at the front of the South Stand. The Club had a duty of care to make those areas safer
  • In those areas, the stewards focus on keeping the aisles and gangways clear, on stopping migration and ensuring capacity isn’t exceeded by others wanting to be in those areas. This is where efforts are concentrated and the local licensing team are happy with how those areas are being managed to date

Looks like the donut days are nearly at an end....

  • Each device will be given a clear number in the queue. Hopefully this will deter fans from running numerous devices at once, which only adds to the pressure on the platform

If Watford did bid £14 mill for Rose then Levy was right to turn it down , Rose said he wanted to go back north is Watford far enough ?

Rose has been loyal to the badge... oh wait, no he hasn't. He ran to the press and tried to engineer a move like Walker and then got injured. He's been happy ever since. No he hasn't. Yes he has No he hasn't... OH MY GOD...

Hopefully we'll have a bit more luck getting rid of the players on the transfer list in January. Tier 1 sources for Real Madrid have reported that they'll be in for Eriksen in January, and clubs tend to be more likely to panic buy if they think they're at risk of slipping into a relegation race and don't have months' worth of time to scout, sign, and integrate players from Europe. Could see the likes of Rose, Dier, and Aurier being of some interest to clubs nervously hanging around the lower mid-table despite their poor form.

The independent understands? ?
Here's the sky version if you prefer your news sources more mainstream:

"It has also been previously reported Tottenham were looking to recoup £20m for the left-back they bought from Leeds for £1m in 2007."

There are more sources if you google, the sun, the mail - whatever floats your boat.

Danny is still an international player, for me £14m for someone who always plays with heart isn't enough. Similar money to Trippier perhaps but no way should we let good players go cheap Danny still is first choice full back for a team who has finished in the top 4 multiple seasons an drew a finalist in club footballs biggest game. Sell, but only if the price is right which at £14m I don't think it was.

Some interesting snippets in here. Particularly around those players refusing to sign new contracts and the lack of sales in the Summer.

Interesting to see that we couldn't bring more in because we couldn't shift more out. I'm guessing Aurier, Rose, Alderweireld, Wanyama & Eriksen were on our potential hit list, which leaves me wondering just who may have been on our in list if like for like replacements were seen to be required.

I'm pretty sure Bruno Fernandes was the Eriksen like for like & Saliba the Toby one. Sessegnon is probably the one earmarked for Rose so a DM and a potential RB perhaps?

Remember the fear was that Toby would be snapped up at €25m. Levy is incompetent for allowing one of our players to be poached for a knockdown fee. That was the narrative from many.

I don’t know if there are many fans who would dispute that 25m would have been a good deal for us. The proof appears to be that no club that could afford his wages would come on for him.

Many people need to congratulate the club for not offering him more than he was worth.

re Rose and others. Should we have taken far below their market value just to be shot of them?

According to Hercules Rose would have trouble passing a medical so on that score, yes absolutely.

With Rose we weren't going to let him go to Watford unless we got great money because Davies was coming back from injury and sessegnon long term injured. If we’d of let him go, there was nobody to play left back. I suspect that was a big reason he didn’t leave! ?

Danny Rose is in a situation where his focus should be to secure one last decent contract, whereever that may be. It wont be with us and it wont be with anyone better than us.

At this rate, he has a job until 2021, and if he can get a three year deal at a PL club, then he can't afford to be picky.

One further point in the Danny Rose debate, Watford’s interest only occurred very late (possibly deadline day from memory) which would make negotiation & agreement on all 3 sides difficult.

Exactly. It is like friends who ask me what is going on and I often say, 'well I hear ... or I understand'. It's just me regurgitating the most likely rumours but in truth I 'know' nothing

"Tottenham have rejected Watford‘s £14m bid for Danny Rose, The Independent understands."

Couldn't be clearer.

Yeah it couldn't be clearer that a completely unsubstantiated rumour from the gossip section of a trashy newspaper during the transfer window is not a particularly reliable source.

Even if, for arguments sake, we say they're right on the figure. How do you know it wasn't spread over 10 years worth of instalments or massively weighted based on performances e.g. goals, appearances etc. etc. Given that he's been injured on and off for the past few years and unlikely to meet a lot of performance targets, the deal might've ended up only being worth 5m to us or something for all you know.

I don’t think that’s plausible for someone who plays as much as he does.
