Reports in the Italian press and in German newspaper Bild today claim former Aston Villa midfielder Thomas Hitzlsperger could be set for a summer move to Spurs.
The 27-year-old midfielder left Stuttgart in January and joined Serie A side Lazio but has struggled for playing time in Italy.
The Italian media suggest Tottenham have already agreed a deal for Hitzlsperger who can leave Lazio at the end of the season on a free transfer.
Earlier this season Hitzlsperger was linked Spurs’ great rivals Arsenal and is believed to be eager for a return to English football after five seasons with Aston Villa earlier in his career.
Spurs boss Harry Redknapp agreed a deal for Brazilian midfielder Sandro earlier this week and the London club also have the likes of Wilson Palacios , Tom Huddlestone and Jermaine Jenas on their books.
Hitzlsperger is expected to be a part of the Germany World Cup squad in the summer and is known for a strong left foot
