I‘ve written about this before but I’ve never been more impressed by a player more than Ryan Mason for sheer bravery and determination. I used to go to reserve matches at Brisbane Road on a regular basis with my son. There was one particular match v Fulham I think when Mason was on one of his regular comebacks from injury - the team had Jamie O’Hara and Gareth Bale in it too as well as the usual smattering of youth - and he was playing like it was a FA Cup final or his life depended on it while everyone else was meandering about while being sworn at by Clive Allen. He was putting in earth shattering blocks and last ditch tackles all over the place - he covered every inch of grass. It’s a terrible description, apologies, but it was really impressive stuff by a young kid coming back from a serious injury.
This is a deceptively tough cookie, we know he’s a deep thinker on the game, and we know he’s rated by a lot of people in football. I wish him all the best and really hope that he succeeds there. He’s also one of our own. COYA!

That win against forest in the cup from his banger was the catalyst for poch. Others say Kane but that was the turning moment for me.

Youth into the side showing that determination you mentioned. I loved him for that and he lived out dream. Proper spurs and I hope he makes it. Great schooling, conte, Ange and Mourinho.

It will be interesting to see how he sets up. I would imagine 4231 but you can't ask for a better set of managers to work under to pick up different ideas. I hope we send a couple of academy lads there on loan as well.

Best of luck to Ryan, really hope he goes there and smashes it and I'd not be at all averse to the club giving him a bit of a helping hand :D. There's been rumours about them wanting to loan Donley next season for a while, having him there with Mason as manager and Lankshear would be a great foundation (unless the plan is to integrate him into the first team next season). The Baggies have a decent team but bad finances (for Championship PSR) currently (they're still carrying some of their lean years under their absentee owners) so they need to sell on one of their better players over the summer to fund things (likely Maja). However they've also just shed some players on big wages as their contracts expired, so there's space there for them to recruit and strengthen provided they do get that sale.

I am delighted for him. I think West Brom is tough gig as Corberan, their manager until Jan, had them overachieving really/ I am not sure what their fans would deems a good season, but from the outside I don't think they'll make playoffs.

Corberan had them overachieving but Mowbray did the opposite too, they really should have made the playoffs but threw it away at the end of the season & a lot of that was down to poor choices from Mowbray.

All the best to him, had a rough playinf career at the end and thrown in at the deep-end in management. Hopefully see him again, but not yet.

Anyone know what sort of state WBA are in? Will he be walking into a sensible, well run club with reasonable expectations or . . .

I think he's sensible to pick the right job as his first go as the main man, but at some point he has to go for it if that's his ambition.
The interview below makes it seem he has that ambition
Would be good for us imo, and probably a decent move for him. Ultimately he's been a constant amongst years of relative chaos and underperformance. Always felt like a sentiment-based appointment to me.
I thought the same but listened to this pod which has probably already been posted a while ago and comes across as far more ambitious than just hanging around. Confidence maybe a big thing leaving what has been home for years but he seems pretty smart and quite thoughtful

A lot of people seem too ignore the value of a good apprenticeship and he’s had a good one. Fingers crossed for him

There’s no better way to learn than to watch other people fuck up and then figure out what they could have done different, so there’s that.

A lot of words to say very little and far too much of the word "Prem-eer", but may be of interest to some.
