This transfer window has been a PR disaster

This transfer window has been a PR disaster - surely DC and JR need to pull their socks up and start handling this a bit better.

1. Berbo - Say no more. Speculation that won't go away
2. Hutton - So far, looking like we've been rejected, come back again and been rejected again
3. Defoe - No one loves me - putting the club in a tricky situation
4. Chimbo - No one loves me - Get me out of here
5. Urby Emanuelson - Saying Spurs are a small club

Now, I'm not blaming them for everything. The press and agents can be uncontrollable but I'd say that in many instances we can do a better job at nipping speculation in the bud either publicly or through better selected press briefings. As to our current players I think we should be better at communicating with them or making sure they don't mouth off to the press.

I'm sure I've missed some other PR disasters and we're only 8 days into this window...

I don't really care about PR. Other clubs fans etc are never going to like us, as we are never going to like them. What does PR matter? I couldn't give a crap if we come across badly in the media.

Was thinking the same thing. Davids is quoted as warning Urby off as well. Thats where the "top club" thing came from

Wonderful season so far.

It's the same for a lot of clubs. Look at Spam with the Bent deal or Tevez/Mascherano situations. Liverpool's current situation and the bickering between the board and Rafa isn't exaclty great PR. Whilst Fergie is rowing with the Utd fans.

Fair comment but I care if the next generation of potential spurs supporters think we're losers and I definitely care if potential spurs players think we're a small club. Most of them see the press and if one chump at Ajax says we're a small club then it doesn't help us sign the next Ajax academy superstar.

90% of the next wave of fans will be a fan due to their family and friends, not through a headline in the sun

we have allways been hated by the press, for years we have had negative press, hell this is actually pretty good compared to some of the shit we have had to endure

And then the Lord gave the Messiah to them. And they saw him, and he was good. They daren't speak his name. But he held his shirt alofteth, and that name painted a glorious picture o'er the North London skies. And that shirt did read ...

There's still time for this window to transform into an unmitigated success. Fuck the PR.

The whole season has had a common theme :-

- disastrous last transfer window
- mickey mouse pre-season
- injuries
- Ramosgate
- Jol soldiering on as a dead man walking
- Martin Jol being the last person to know
- continued innability to defend

And it continues
- failure to communicate with Chimbonda before persuing other right backs
- innevitable speculation about Berbatov

I do feel sympathy for the board though , even if they started to perform , it would not be enough because the money being thrown at clubs like Man City has moved the goalposts .

What matters is that we move forward and get the players in to progress. WE want to become a top Club, and we have quality players already at the Club. We have to build on what we already have, and if we manage to get the right players we will get good PR by seeing good results due to the transfers made.

the club needs to come out and put everyone straight with all the talk about berba defoe and all the other stuff going on surely if someone came on SSN and told it straight that would put an end to it.

look at fergie last week a story came out about ronaldo going to madrid and all he said to the media was that it was pure rubbish and that was the end of it.

i just think we need to put a few people straight

No, at one time, in the 60s and early 70s when our legend Cliff Jones uncle, Ken jones was writing for the Mirror, he was very pro Spurs.
