Does anyone else think the supposed 38 millio bid for Auero and the other supposed bids for spanish based players were pure spin that (the old) new labour would have been proud of? I thought it at the time and I think it now - Levy can now turn round and say "well, you can't sat we didn't try". Wel done Donna Cullen. Bravo. They obviously take us for idiots. Those bids were never going to be accepted and if they were we must have known those platers were not going to come to us at the last minute.

I think we have missed a massive opportunity that might not come again and have embarrassed ourselves wth our last minute fumblings, not for the first time under Levy's stewardship.

Anyway, nowt we can do about it now so let's all get behind the players and hope we can still have a succesful season. I say that more in hope than expectation....

Yes, Levy has embarrassed himself by getting us into the Champions League with half the ticket revenues of the other top four clubs... He should hang his head in shame.

I can't be on here tonight, I'll end up getting banned with some of the utterly wank comments being made on here.

I don't buy the spin argument but £30m for Rossi seems very odd considering we could have got Suarez for a lot less. £38.5m for Aguero was utterly bizarre considering how carefully Levy usually negotiates with bigger fees.

Are you D Levy,we needed a forward for two transfer windows and we bid for a midfielder and a defender.
Daniel has been great, he been charging CL prices for the league cup and is prepared to move the club to another part of London.

I don't disagree at all that Levy has done well for us but does that make him immune to criticism in your opinion?

We will be able to compete with the top teams when we move into the OS and have 60,000 delirious fans at every game.

The prices are high because our stadium is too small. We need to move.

It all seems bizarre. Apparently we bid 15m for Forlan, similar for Suarez, but then nigh on 40m for Aguero? Why not just bid 25m for Suarez when he was an Ajax player and be done with it?

it's all a bit fishy to me.

But how do we know what really happened?

In the case of Aguero, he's surely worth £40m - is Suarez worth £25m? Is he worth £25m knowing that if he flops we may be hamstrung when trying to sign another forward?

Harry might take a bit of flak over this one.

Rossi is a much better player than Suarez though, and more able to partner vdV. Well worth the extra £7m IMO.

I haven't seen much of Rossi at all, so I can't comment on that one. Today £30m for Rossi would have slipped under the radar!

I understand your frustration Nick and I agree with you that we have so much to be thankful for. But Levy and Redknapp we'll be gutted on this one. When will we next get the opportunity to sign top-class players like Suarez, Forlan, Llorente etc. If we don't get into the CL next season we might have to wait a very long time.

We know if we were even vaguely prepared for today target wise we would have got Adam.

Aguero to Adam! Says it all really.

Levy knew big moves was going to happen today [Torres Carrol] he softened up the blow by bidding for Aguero which he knew was never gonna happen.

A couple of points:
1. We don't actually know what really happened. It's not really spin when most of what we heard was journo gossip and ITK stuff.
2. All those strikers we were linked with in La Liga got people worked up, but other than maybe Aguero, I've heard extremes of opinion on the abilities of all of them. The only thing they all had in common was a fucking massive price tag.
