I assume the deal won't be done while the ConCup is on because his club and agent know it's the best shop window for the player and won't agree any deal until the rest of the world has viewed their window display, not for any actual technical admin reasons ?

Well he's not playing tonight and if Brazil dont win they'll more than likely be playing Spain and for all of their attacking prowess their defence is not 100% solid so even IF that was the case, the opportunities left to do so may be rather limited if they dont beat the Italians tonight

So the wanker is waiting for bigger club to come in if he does well, I wouldn't be that fussed if missed as for that money we could get someone like kondogbia and probably have change

I think the holding off on signing is more in respect to the mission at hand for him and the Brazil squad. They are in the midst of a tournament in their home country that obviously carries some importance. Any distraction at this time that isn't necessary should be avoided. Paulinho would most likely be hounded as he would be leaving Brazil for the EPL.

Mildly agonising wait for Paulinho then. This form of response has been built into us with all the ups and downs and crazy situations that we have endured as Spurs fans over the years. Only thing to do is try and relax, smoke a j and let it play out. At this point, we can ascertain that the club has done things right at our end and agreed the fee and personal terms. Just up to the player now, if he decides on something else then fuck him, we have a decent list of other CMs that seem to be on our radar if this one doesn't go through

For what it is worth: spoke to a good mate today who was with Joe Lewis very recently and he said they are not selling Bale but will bring in three quality players to boost the team

So looks like Bernard's no longer an option, surprise, surprise. If we get Tom Ince instead I will be so underwhelmed! I wonder who else, if anyone, we are looking at. We really need some creativity on the wing, especially if we bring in Paulinho, great player but not a number 10.

I don't see why it couldn't be Paulinho, Bernard, and a striker with Damaio as a last min bargain if something can be done. 3 quality players with Damaio as a potential bonus.

If it's 3 quality players to boost the starting 11 then that would be great! If it's 3 quality players to improve our squad then we will struggle to finish as high as this season as other teams are also improving. Yes it's a squad game and you need quality in depth but our strongest 11 needs 3-4 quality players to really push on.
IMO a new Left back, Centre Mid, Winger/Attacker, STRIKER.

I'm very excited about signing Paulinho but if i'm honest i still think we need a creative mid, IF we're not going to play Holtby through the middle. We still lack midfield players who are fluid passers of the ball. We have Hudd but he lacks everything else lol. I hate to mention that little rat Modric but you could pass the ball into his feet and he would retain the ball for fun and pick off a nice pass to keep us moving. Sandro is a BEAST but not amazing with the ball at his feet. Dembele is probably the most comfortable on the ball but not a great (eye of the needle) passer.

If we sign Paulinho then it will be interesting to see how we set up at home. Obviously we all think Paulinho, Sandro, Dembele as a middle 3. I agree! But where's the creativity??? To play 4-3-3 you need 3 attacking players who can all score. Currently we will be playing with Bale - Ade - Lennon. Yes Bale scores! Ade is great when he decides to turn up for a few weeks but Lennon is just a pure winger and will never have enough goals in him to command that attacking spot.

Overall we are a very strong team that's just lacking a bit of quality in the final 3rd of the pitch. Over to you Mr Levy.

Im sorry but i dont get this attitude...
Why should he have any affinity for us and not wait until the end of the tournament like pretty much every other player at that conf cup before deciding their future?!

We dont know that he is holding out, like Villa he may simply be wanting to concentrate on the competition. Or even if he is waiting for offers, who can blame him? Its a job, he wants the best for him, he will wait to see what his options are!

If we sign him, great, if he rejects us for a better offer then so be it, but im not sure we need to get stroppy.

Agree with this I think we need about 5 players personally to boost the squad 3 will just be dipping our toe in so to speak simply not enough.
But if thats all that avb wants which will keep daniel happy as he won't have to spend much then it's down to him if we fail yet again in pursuit of top four and or trophies.

imagine palace signing parker, or even villa (amongst their youngsters) there are a number of clubs that spending that 4-5 mil on a player like parker for 2-3 years of experience, fight, model pro ect ect that could be Vital in their fight to stay in the league. 4-5 mil is not an unrealistic price for the lad!!

It is. Tell me the last 32 year old player who wasn't considered world class that went for £5m?
