Haha holding the fort....on a part time basis. :)

I can laugh now because it is hilarious we were being run shambolically off the pitch. Pleat was scouting but had nobody to submit the reports to.

People say how professional football is. It truly is not despite all the money.

so have we sold bale yet? Im joking the offer to eat my turd is there if he does leave (BUT HE WILL NOT)
LLM your obviously confident re bale and i hope your right! Do you know if weve been looking at any players who could possibly be a replacement in the event bale does leave however unlikely?

Bale talk, Soldado talk, it's all got so tedious. Can't wait for the minute this window slams shut and we can concentrate on the actual football

especially this Bale chat. It's just a billion comments saying the same thing over and over and over again in slightly different ways.

think i'll leave the ITK discussion thread until something else comes up not regarding bale

Daily mail saying levy has flown to have crunch talks with Bale rather than going on holiday in Florida. Would he really be on holiday during our transfer window anyway?

Edit - Meant to put this in the bale thread sorry
Daniel would not have to fly anywhere to have talks with Bale, he is on the plane back from Hong Kong, it's not called the daily fail for nothing......

O.K. if he's a money magnet then why isn't Levy offering him 200 grand a week? If his return on investment is so freaking huge then why not make him a ten year deal on that with a 10% pay rise each year? I'd bet any money you want that if an offer of ninety to one hundred million came in for Bale Levy would snatch Real Madrid's hands off.

Bale or anyone else for that matter just will not generate anywhere near the kind of money for the Club (minus his wages, and bonuses should he stay) that are even close to the fee being quoted for his transfer. I want him to stay but not for the money being alleged for his transfer.

You really don't have any clue what the value would be in keeping him, nor do I, but you're still missing the point. If we keep him for another season we will benefit off the pitch for sure - he'll increase the brand of Tottenham Hotspur Football Club, that is just a given I'm afraid.

You're rationale is that it won't equate to anything like a 100 million. Probably not, certainly not in the short term. But if we sell him next season for 60 million....and we get all that extra exposure and our profile/brand grows, that puts a different light on it. Do you see where I'm coming from? Its not all that I've outlined versus 100 million because we could still command a massive fee for him next season.

Furthermore, if we got into the CL (not saying you should ever bank on that by the way) next season we could find ourselves in a fantastic position. If Bale still demanded to go and we sold him for mega money we'll have had all the benefits of keeping him another year, and the commercial growth as a result, but in addition we would be able to attract those bigger players on higher wages etc

I'll take that offer if nobody else has got in there first cheers.

I doubt we have been looking, but i'm pretty sure that Baldini has heard of a guy called Lamela who could do the job.

And there was me thinking our new signing could be announced to the stock exchange first thing tomorrow.

I guess that it will just have to wait until 1pm then....

Someone will have said this by the time I type it but we're not on the stock exchange anymore so that won't matter.

Not at all, no.

We didn't want Jurgen to leave, certainly. But he was free, under the terms of his contract, to do so. And who could blame him when Bayern were in for him? He never had anything but kind words to say about Spurs.
He fucked us over. You just don't see it because you liked him as a player.

He was the first top foreign player to join the Premier League. Before him, there were mostly only Brits, Irish and Scandiwegians.
Osvaldo Ardiles.

Just had a look on google and to back up your point Real Madrid sold 1.2m Ronaldo shirts in his first season alone! They also sold 800,000 beckham shirts in his first season. Those figures alone would just about cover Ronaldos transfer fee and put them ahead on beckham a fee (not including wages) if we could get anywhere near those numbers with bale then there is a definite logic on keeping him whatever the fee and that is before you take into account all the other income streams these sorts of players generate.

Have you taken into concideration that those shirts would probably be bought anyway? They just all seemed to go along with Ronaldo or Beckham at the back that season. I guess there is a slight increase, but ppl would probably buy the shirts anyway but with different players on it.

Osvaldo Ardiles.

You're right Jurgen screwed us over - Sugar then screwed us over for years to come by over reacting to the situation

As for Ossie - he was long before the PL era but Jurgen certainly wasn't the first successful European player in the early PL era (Cantona/Kanchelskis)

But would they have sold those shirts anyway, with just another players name on?
The only way you could measure it would be through an increase in the amount of shirts sold.

Ah, but you have to cover the sports brand's chunk of those sales as well, and increasingly a percentage of image/merch rights go to a big star directly. Huge money off the transfer fees though, there's no doubt at all. (y)

Mido@midoahmI will never forget when levy came to sign me from Roma and we had to travel back on EasyJet flight!! #coys

Mido@midoahmWhen we arrived to the airport he asked me to run and I said why..he replied:: to get a good seat...And I couldnt stop laughing! ! #coys
After reading this I think I know why soldado hasn't been announced yet. Levy is making up the big fee by making him take the uerostar :D
