I thought the Paulinho signing was great at the time because it didn't make all that much sense - almost a luxury signing. That led me to think that the ITK about "war chests" and such had to be true because why else would they drop £17 mill on a position that was pretty well covered all things considered when striker was still such an obvious need.

Now it is just confusing me. If Levy is still just trying to only find bargains and still low-balling teams and overvaluing his own assets so no one buys them, then why did they pop £17 mil on Paulinho (who by the way I am happy to have on the team) right off the bat? Maybe it's just me.

avb but in fairness he was given some dodgy guidance/advice

He is a bit light, I'd be a touch concerned about him adapting quickly to the league. As good a player as he is I'm unsure he'd make an impact right off the bat.

He really needs to log into SC there are plenty of people that would have given guidance/advice agreeing fapping over countless YouTube videos of Bernard.
I agree youtube really shows a players abilities better than watching live.....Hold on he is good on FM too.

Paulinho signing makes sense to me. Last season AVB wanted Moutinho in that role. Its pretty much evident we were weak in CM after Modric left - especially when Sandro & Dembele got injured.

As for as 'war chest', I have no clue. Whether we have it or not, I guess prinicipally every deal goes through rigorous process of Levynomics. My guess is Paulinho being a stand out Brazillian international with a world cup coming up, made the decision easier for Levy.

I think we are definitely in for Bernard. Obviously this is just personal opinion, but I actually think Chadli is evidence of that. It sounds like we've got Chadli lined up and he openly wants the move. The only reason why we would be waiting out is we're actively working on a 'Plan A' option. And, given the fact that Bernard isn't open to a move until Wednesday, it really fits together. If we fail with Bernard, it's a quick switch to Chadli.

I think once we figure out Bernard or Chadli, we will then move to the striker position with whatever funds we may have left. This is is no way new information, but I just had this overwhelming sense of clarity in all of this for whatever reason.

Osvaldo is probably the closest thing around to a 27-year-old Berba. Unfortunately having to rely on him and Ade would be enough to make AVB lose that lovely ginger head of hair,
