We need the optimistic rating back.

Multiple posts about Ade turning up this season and signing Bernard and Soldado.

If we are in for Soldado, it doesn't bode well that Valencia are hard up. It has a 'who will blink first' vibe all over it and we all know how they go with Danny the stare out champion...who probably has cataracts by now.

A striker should be a priority over Bernard, and I've seen a few references to a 'Levy special' a la VdV...only thing wrong with that was as good a player as he was, he wasn't what we needed at the time by any shape or form although his goals contributed immensely. He was shoehorned in there as best we could, but we were all still crying out for a striker at the time. I don't want this repeated again, we need the right positions rather than the right prices this time around.

Give the manager a fucking chance like.

Osvaldo was Harry's target , before he signed for Roma. He is a decent player - nothing special. But has got a good record for Roma 27 goals in 55 games.
Apparently he punched Lamela in face for not passing the ball to him in one of the games & got fined for it....

Honestly, does anyone really see Levy paying £20 mill for a 28 yr old striker??? And that's assuming they would even take a bid that low. Unless they suddenly drop the price to £12 mill or something, seems like a(nother) pipe dream for us that ultimately ends in disappointment.
exactly!

Well, Osvaldo definitely plays with what I would call an "arrogant flair." He tries some crazy shit and the best part is he has the technique to pull it off. He'd probably become a favorite of our fans and absolutely loathed by everyone else. He's a pretty funny player, though.
The guy scored an overhead kick in the video I just watched.

What's not to like? Jair-endorsed. (y)

Still hoping for 2/3 more in but we shall see...

I'm hoping we are still in the market and are willing to spend big money.

Just a thought that popped into my head:

If we were willing to buy the Croatians for £17 million, obviously we would of still had money aside for a striker, say £20 million.... No?

Indicates that the money is there, it's just finding deals what Levy will view as value.

It's also very worrying that at this point despite a lot of noises, we've not sold on anyone of note.

The déjà-vu is actually a bit sickening tbh.

The consensus seems to be that Bernard would choose the Goons, then us, then Liverpool in that order.

I can see why Liverpool would be third in that list with no european football, the lowest league position, hardly any good players, and David Brent as the manager. I'm not convinced that he would necessarily choose the Goons over us though. True they have the CL, but we also have european competition in the EL. Not quite the exposure or prestige, agreed. What we do have - in a World Cup year - is two of his international teammates and a cast-iron guarantee that his national manager will watch a shit-load of our games. Plus a head coach with a good international reputation who speaks his native tongue. And Gareth Bale.

Yes, wages might be an issue, but if Bernard was to have a choice I don't think it's by any means guaranteed that he would choose the Goons over us. There is precedent in us winning transfer battles against them; Jan Vertonghen springs immediately to mind.

I highly doubt that Croatian Kid Fund was actually something that was going to effect anything we do this window. Most likely we were paying a real small portion of that as we were going to allow them to stay with Dinamo Zagreb until January/Next Summer. It was most likely a deal paid in small chunks over time, or at least small now and then more substantial chunks when they were actually coming to us.

Exactly: it comes down to whether he's one of us or one of them.
Same as when we were chasing Arse-havin - turns out he was a Gooner.

I hope Bernard wants to play like we do.

That's the part that really worries me. I wish Levy would just take the slightly cheaper fee. I know they are probably considered separate allocation of club funds, but the amount he is probably trying to haggle for on the transfer fee is getting eaten away at by keeping said players on the wage bill.

Due to work I have spent the past three nights reading over a 100 pages of this thread at ridiculous hours with one eye barely open.

Even more impressively, I have managed to catch up to speed tonight whilst receiving fellatio from the GF

All I can say is WOW, some people need to chill!. Past couple of pages have been great though

PS. Always been an Osvaldo fan, think he would love the PL and be a cult favourite for us. Love Soldado too but I think if we can grab Osvaldo for 12-14m then he could well be the one we go for. Would love the PL
