This is why I’m not in favour of the automated offside. It still judges the millimetre infraction. Which is not what offside is all about.
What is offside about?

Not really the place but I'll add a VAR story - tonight US is playing Brazil - Brazil is awarded a free kick, and a US player is shown a YC.
VAR calls the ref to the monitor - presumably to review for a RC (either dangerous tackle or last man) - in the course of that review - the Ref actually overrules the initial call of a foul, and gives the ball back to the US.
But, of note - US is playing predictably deep - and even a team like Brazil, with creative players at every position, has trouble breaking down a team that sits deep, and stays disciplined.
On your side note, they lost heavily to Colombia at the weekend, so probably had a rocket up them to concentrate...Not really the place but I'll add a VAR story - tonight US is playing Brazil - Brazil is awarded a free kick, and a US player is shown a YC.

In response, it has developed the VS which, unlike VAR, does not use dedicated Video Match Officials and therefore does not automatically check all match-changing incidents. Instead, the onus falls on the two head coaches who will be allowed to make a limited number of review requests per match when they feel there has been a clear and obvious error in match-changing incidents such as goal/no goal, penalty/no penalty, direct red card or mistaken identity.
Seriously, down to the coaches to sort it out?For those of you who dislike VAR, you now have a reason to watch the U20 women's world cup (besides you creeps who watch for the 19 year old women).
It will be trialing the downscaled review system called Video Support (VS). Here's the short of it.
Football Video Support to be implemented at FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Colombia 2024™
Football Video Support (VS), a simplified alternative to the video assistant referee (VAR) system, is to be used on a trial basis at the upcoming FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup™ in Colombia as FIFA continues to lead the use of technology to support referees.inside.fifa.com

So what do fifa propose, the coaches battle it out with a game of rock, paper, scissors?
Just let the ref get on with reffing for jeffing sake!
Now here's a protest. Match abandoned in Norway because of supporters throwing tennis balls and fish cakes on to the pitch to protest against VAR.
Much too sensible don't they do that in NFL or something like it.Why couldn't we just have the refs explain it over the speakers after the decision has been made/reached?

Believe so and I'm sure there was a competition or two which trialled it in football (think in the women's game but I honestly can't remember).Much too sensible don't they do that in NFL or something like it.
Yes I vaguely remember that in the women's game.Believe so and I'm sure there was a competition or two which trialled it in football (think in the women's game but I honestly can't remember).
I know you hear what the ref says on TV but never having been to a live rugby match not sure if it gets relayed through the stadium speakers to the crowd.Do they not do it in rugby also?

They must get better signal than I do. I can never get on long enough to check other scores!Yes I vaguely remember that in the women's game.
Putting the VAR decisions onto twitter just another distraction for some who are continually on their phones during a match.
