Right, thanks. I thought making him stand down as UFC Chief was a bit strong! Maybe the term 'stand down' means something slightly different over there.

.
I think it means the same, but perhaps he didn’t phrase it very well, can see why you would think it meant Dana standing down

Common sense has prevailed. I was looking forward to something to watch, but it should never really have got to this point, Dana has always flirted between being admirably gun ho and strong willed to downright petty and obstinate beyond belief.

And yes ‘stand down’ just means he was the one man lightning rod trying to make this event happen and he was asked to back down and call it off

I didn't think it was too bad what he tried to do. It's not much different to what WWE are doing with all the weekly shows behind closed doors at their Performance Centre. He got a location in isolation and had followed all the relevant guidelines to help protect the fighters. He wants to push on through this difficult time. I don't think it would have been so bad to have an event with no crowd and limited number of people around at one time. As long as they could perform testing on the fighters. Ah well another few months wait for UFC and Football along with any other event I was hoping to go to.

In his interview with Brett, he confirmed that he has everything set up and ready to go, but he decided to go with ESPN's decision to call it all off.

I feel for Justin Gaethje. He was so 'up' for it.

So it looks like it's really happening unless a bunch of people test positive in the next 3 days

Can't wait for this, feels nice to have something to actually look forward to.

I can enjoy fights with barely any atmosphere as much as I can with one with some. Hasn't stopped me from loving the Ultimate Fighter fights.

I’ll take a guess and say this one wont happen now that a fighter in it has tested positive. It was fun while it lasted but as everyone says, the virus is the boss. I know the athletic commission still gave the go ahead but a ton can change by fight time.

Now that things are slowly starting to come back and all athletes are getting tested regularly(along with WH aids and gov’t execs), you find out just how wide spread this virus likely is. I’d say the US alone probably has almost 2m-2.5m right now with a bunch of “silent spreaders.”

Im shocked this is going on right now. But i am very happy for it. Sports are back, if only for a night. Prelims were good. Very excited for this PPV.

Bit early that stoppage. It was a vicious knee but looked like Cruz was getting up and the round was about to end.

And Cejudo “retires” too in a pay me, Dana sort of way. We’ll see that weirdo defend the title again in a few months.

That was a systematic domination by Gaethje. Ferguson took a ton of shots. What a chin. But Gaethje destroyed him. Unbelievable performance. RIP Tony/Khabib.

Guessing it’ll be Conor/Gaethje for the right to get submitted by Khabib

What a super impressive performance by Gaethje, his striking based on pure power and accuracy is one of the best i've seen and what an absolute monster performance against a guy who is super difficult to fight against.

I think Connor and Khabib will really be in trouble with this guy. He's so focussed and deadly, plus has great take down defence and superb striking. I'd love to see either of those fights.

Wow. What an incredible night of fantastic fights 1st to last. I wanted Justin to beat Tony but I have to say, Tony took many punches which would have killed most people, I'm amazed he took them all, and with no crowd present, you could hear them all landing, which was brilliant.

One of the best cards I can remember, so many congrats to Jusstin, to Vicente and to the UFC for putting it all together for our delight.

Welcome back UFC!!!
